Great to hear such comments but what about the current subprime crisis, fannie mae, freddie mac and the failed 700 Bn $ bailout plan.
You can imagine what might happen if the republicans win the presidential election. I have serious doubts over rejuvenation of US economy and feel that the time of the newer superpowers has emerged up.
Adding further, Russia has gained in the recent past mainly due to rising oil prices as russia has huge oil reserves. On the contrary US also has oil reserves but it doesn't use it & in fact it imports a lot of oil

The Next World Super Power?

I have to say after being a born, raised and having the majority of my family in the United States I have a fairly unbiased approach to this debate as I now live and work in the UK and have for the past 10 years.

Looking at some of the posts they come from uneducated americans who have never been out of that country and assume the rest of the world is insignificant.

I do believe 110% that China,India, the EU and Russia (sorry Australia you don't have the geographical location or the population to become a superpower but definitely a major player) will overtake the you.S in terms of super power status.

There are several european countries with a higher average wae than the you.S


I am afraid the only reason the united states is a super power is due to its size as I feel there is a much much much higher standard of living in many other countries compared with the united states.
If the BRIC economies continue to see high economic growth over the next few years the ball will be in thier court.

I would also like to add that education is detrimental to a countries economy and I think this is some thing that needs to be worked on MASSIVELY in the you.S I am sorry but I have never met people as stupid ( I am glad

Might I add Russia is not a third world country and has recently acquired the no.2 spot worldwide for the most billionaires per country behind the you.S

Have you read Thomas Freidman's "The World is Flat?" He agrees that China and India will become the next major superpowers, because they are making such rapid advances and working so hard to grow. He compares their education to ours here in the US, and it seems as if they are far more motivated at succeeding than we are. I guess it makes sense; we are probably thinking that we have it made for us, and they realize that you need to work to earn success, so they are working for it. It will be interesting to see how things turn out.

For all those who thought China and India cannot become superpowers.
Let me tell You after the subprime crisis, Post freddie, fannie issues, And after AIG takeover, numerous companies in the US are facing a terrible situation.
Almost all countries are facing a crisis.
In spite of all this the 4 countries BRIC- Brazil, Russia India and China are still standing upright.
Even these have been beaten but, not as much as the US.
All the events in the recent past like the ECB meets all show that even the European countries haven't been saved.
In fact India could maintain inflation in the safe bracket for a considerably long period of time.
And if a country is economically sound it will subsequently become a superpower.
And china and india are two countries which have consistently posted very good GDP growth rates. China posted 11.4% in 2007-08 and that of USA was 2.2%

The Next World Super Power?

First off, America is not declining in power. We havn't stopped getting stronger since 1900. Right now, our military is stronger than it has ever been. America is only suffering temporarily right now from the war in Irag although we really shouldn't be suffering. We should be taking Iraqi oil to pay ourselves pack for everything we have done. People always say that Bush invaded Iraq for oil. Now, if you have half a brain in your head you will know that this is a bunch of bull. JUST LOOK AT GAS PRICES! If Bush would have invaded Iraq for oil, gas prices would be down to $0.30 a gallon! It's common sense people. Now, regarding China, India, and Russia. All three of these countries are third world countries compared to America. I'm not saying China and Russia arn't powerful cause they are one of the stronger countries in the world but they will never be able to match the you.S. In military power. If we could only really know what is going on in the military and government and all those secret files, we would really know how powerful we really are. We are Americans and we should be damn proud of it! We shouldn't doubt our country! We are only struggling right now because our economy isn't that great right now. But I can gaurantee that we will pull through as we always will. If we would only drill in Alaska, we would no longer be in an energy crisis. We're in a self-made crisis that we can easily pull through. We don't really need to invest trillions of dollars investing in alternate fuel sources. We have everything right here in America! By drilling in Alaska we create thousands of new jobs which would boost our economy greatly. Also, if we want to boost our econonmy we need to lower taxes on the wealthy people of the world. Think about it. The rich people are all the business owners who make jobs. If we lower taxes for the rich they will have more money and turn will spend that money on either say, building a new hotel, which would create hundreds of new jobs. We are American's; brag about it!
