OMG M$ did rip them off ahahaha, Apple could so sue the hell out of them for this. It is so obvious that it is sickening, I have a feeling Vista is not going to last long once apple starts with the lawsuits and they show. Widgets does not equal gadgets  and yet are the same thing. Glad I have XP, what even funnier he only mentions the apple users and not the linux users.

I would definitely stick with Windows XP. Like SM said though Mac was indeed ripped off. That's amazing how much they have gotten away with. With the release of Vista in January they are probably going to have so many problems coming for them. Bill Gates will file for bankruptcy. It's too bad no one can have their own ideas anymore. And Windows used to be the best operating system out there. Now they are turning into a cheat. Although I'm sure Mac has copied a few things from Windows too... just probably not so much.

Most people would be smart enough to wait a few months before they purchase vista. There won't be many drivers for it(maybe the Microsoft drivers for there games), and it's ganna be bugged...From what I hear, they're releasing it way to soon. It's not a ripoff guys, can't you see the search botton on Vista is in the bottom left corner. DUH.

Didn't Apple come before out before Windows then Bill Gates tweaked the UI a bit then released it. For a long time Windows made it's own stuff and was original. I believe that if Apple keeps making great inovations that they will end up ahead. The problem is that they are so far behind and they dont really accept to many games. Actually Macs new OS has a thing called spaces which is a rip off of Linux systems, but that is the only thing i saw.

Ah, i noticed this too, from screenshots of Vista. But yeah, Microsoft copying other OS's (i.e. Mac OS) is not new. I'm still amazed that Microsoft won the case several years ago. I think the verdict was similar to: Microsoft modified things JUST ENOUGH to get by.

First of all, Apple can not sue Microsoft over the similarities in the look and feel of the operating system. Those things are not copywrited and thus there is no legal ground for sueing. Secondly, lots of the features that are used in Vista and OSX were first developed for Linux which and was freeware. Finally, after using Vista some at work and talking to other who have, we all have agreed that is actually flows a lot better than XP. With a dual core chip, 2 gb ram, and a 256 mb video card, it runs super fast and actually does numerous things quicker than XP on the same system. As for compatibility there is a compatibility mode that you can run software in as if it were XP so programs that crash in vista can be emulated in an XP environment.

Ya, your right they can't sue, but it's SO close to the same. I mean Widgets/Gadgets and the default Gadgets are the same as the default Widgets! That's amazing to me. I am a long time windows user also. I only switch to Mac for my Graphic Design courses. Now i am in love with it and its a lot different and i think cleaner then windows.

:/ Microsoft's running out of ideas? How sad... But seriously... it looks a lot like Mac. They might end up losing more reputation with that. They could've kept the same old things instead of trying to "innovate" them and end up having them look like another OS.  Are they seriously trying to ruin their reputation or something? Well... I'm going to stick to Windows XP a little longer. I'm already annoyed that it takes up a lot of RAM by itself because I need my RAM, and I can't exactly purchase an upgrade in my financial state. Sure... it looks pretty, but I don't enjoy lagging 'til kingdom come. I can't leave Windows entirely yet because I need it to run certain programs...

Of course microsoft copied mac, I think like a year or even more before vista was released people were saying that the new windows will be a mac clone basically. The features are the same just a different name it is quite disappointing the fact that microsoft can't distinguish itself from another company.

No the thing was because apple didn't come up with the idea for the computer, xerox did, and gave it away for free to apple because they didn't think it was worth anything. Apple designed the brand new GUI while gates still only had text. Gates stole this, but the verdict was that it wasn't apple's product. I think they didn't know the differece between hardware and software back then >_> becasue apple got the computer from xerox but the os they coded themselves.... You guys really need to watch the movie "Pirates on silicon valley". Its a great movie about this whole thing.

resemblence doesn't means copying. still vista is a system hugger it need overall system rebuild which increases cost. apple has always been the expensive one. so..doesn't matters for me what so ever.

Well, I agree on the part by David Pogue. I also have to say that some things are just universal. Although if you are creative you can come up with many ways to do things, only a few ways will actually fit the demands of most people. It would be like suing somebody for making a web browser toolbar and saying that the general idea of additional toolbars was their idea or something like that. It would be crazy to do such a thing. Copyrights, trademarks, and patents were created to protect work from being stolen. I'm pretty sure that we all know that. However, not much is actually being "stolen". These things are just universal. As we get more advanced, we might think that these thing are not universal, especially with something like Aero and the funky GUIs. At the end of the day, most of those things are universal. Now of Apple comes up with something brilliant ( again ), and Windows takes it without much change, there has to be some complaints there. What Microsoft can do is get inspiration from Apple and make a better version of Apple's product. Also, Microsoft would never attempt to hurt Apple furiously like I saw described in an earlier post. That would just decrease Microsoft's popularity dramatically. Microsoft doing that could have a worse effect on Microsoft itself than Apple. When Apple gets revenge, Microsoft will be hurt even worse. Because of the possibility of that happening, Microsoft has to strive to be as angelic as Apple, but Microsoft is a position where everything that they do can be perceived as evil. Because of that position, Microsoft is a sitting duck. Let me rephrase that. A rich sitting duck.

Install a game 3 times and then you have to buy another copy (9) I can't believe how stupid EA can be. So if you buy a game and install it over 3 times, it locks
up and you have to buy another copy. This is STUPID. I've read in a forum a post by someone who
formats his hard drive every 3 months. He's never going to buy any EA game with that kind of

Issue With Windows Vista - Sound Card Acting Wierd [resolved]
Sound card doesnt recognize my 5.1 (4) For some strange reason My sound card doesn't seem play sound on my 5.1 properly. I've a
dual boot system. on XP its running properly. So I figure this is an issue with Vista only. My
sound card is recognized as Realtek HD audio. *(My motherboad is XFX 650i Ultra) Now whenever a
jack on the back-panel is unplugged or plugged in it shows and alert and gives an option window
under XP where I can select what I've put. It somewhat allows me to configure any pin to be a
input or output. However I could not find this same option in Vista. I generally don....

Get Back Lots Of Disk Space
Windows XP/Vista MCE (Media Centre Edition) (7) So, some of you might know about this already but, anyways... The other day I was trying to install
a game but did not have the necessary disk space, so I deleted files that I will not use, and other
files that I do not need... I compressed some files that I might use later in the future... And just
doing that got me back around two to three gigabytes of free hard disk space... But that's not
enough, the game needed 6 gigabytes of free disk space! So what did I do next? I ran CCleaner...
It took a while yes, but soon it free'd another 2 gigabytes... ARRGH&....

following Secuirty Suites installed on your ocmputer that is running Vista. They block the

Dual Booting Vista And Xp With This?
(5) Ok, so I've done some looking around trying to see if it's possible I could dual-boot my pc
with Windows XP Home and Vista Ultimate Edition (x64). Well, I know it's possible, but I'm
not understanding many guides I read because many people have mentioned assorted stuff like
