A 37-mile long fissure has opened up in the Afar Desert, and some scientists believe that it could be the start of a new ocean. It opened up in September and is currently about 13 feet wide. Unfortunately, it is estimated that the process of forming the ocean will take about a million years, so we won't get to see this happen (unless they perfect anti-aging soon).
Interestingly, it is thought that it will form in the gap created as part of Ethiopia is torn off of the continent of Africa. Currently it is travelling at the rate of 0.8 inches per year. |

lol wow. That would be pretty interesting to see what the Earth is like if that does become an ocean. I bet they would name it after me. Only because I am special. I don't think a new ocean will do much good if it takes apart land because we will have a 2000 times more dense population by then.

Hmm. I don't know about a new ocean. I suppose it could happen. Our luck it will open into a mega vocano No, but I may become something other than an ocean. Fissures often time have magma somewhere below the surface. Just depends on if it continues to get deeper. It would be cool though, a new ocean. Think, a million years from now we get to name a new ocean. From pond, to lake, to sea, and then ocean. Oh well, maybe they will come out with an amazing anti-aging cream

I bet in a million years a lot of the will be ripped apart and replaced with water. Maybe an ocean in the middle of the dessert will be a good thing for Africa. And will Ethiopia still be considered part of Africa after it's been separated from it or will it become a completely separate entity. Maybe even a war will break out as they try and fight for their independance. Who knows.

Who knows. yeah, wow never thought about that...Well as if we need another war in the world...ofcourse we aren't here when that happends, if it'll be because of the ocean. but it's pretty weird that this happends in the middle of a dessert. Was it a kinda Oase before orsomething? anyway nice thing to know! IF this will become an big ocean, I hope war will not be a concequence but the positive things like that there maybe enough water for those countries in Africa who really need it.

A new ocean? Thats kind of strange... why wouldnt we just call the new body of water, once it connected to an existing ocean, the name that the ocean it connects to goes by? And what if its not a new damn ocean? What if the damned world is splitting half and we're all like " Hey a new ocean... " Okay thats just stupid, but you never know. We've been wrong before.

I hear about "ocean development" for the first time in my life. I tought that only global warming could do such a thing. Good news is that it's gowing slowlly, about 0.7-0.8 inches per year, so it's going to take a lot of time. But it might be the bad news too, since those folks in Africa desperately need water

It´s interesting from a sciencist point of view but terribly scary as human beings. By the way, ocean water it´s not for drinking, you know. No joke, please. They would need desalation machines, and that´s really expensive.

A Clue To Evolution?
Seahorse found in the ocean (4) Well, I'm new to google earth and don't have time right now to figure out how to make a .kmz
file. So instead, do the following: type in "Galapagos Islands" in the "fly to box". When it gets
there, make sure you're compas points directly north. Now, is it just me or do the islands
eerily resemble (with odd colours, too) a giangantic seahorse? Lat = 0°11'4.21"S Long =

Desert Rose
I love this song - Desert Rose (0) I dream of rain I dream of gardens in the desert sand I wake in vain I dream of love as time runs
through my hand I dream of fire Those dreams that tie two hearts that will never die And near the

she turns This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams This fire burns I realize that nothings

Getting Fresh Water From The Ocean - My Idea
(40) Well I'm sure you've all heard and said "if we run out of lakes etc we can get water from
the ocean!" the problems is of course money because it costs a lot to heat the water and get the
salt removed. Well I say either a)Leave a barrel of water of water out in the desert or iraq or some
other really hot place. Or b)Use a ton of solar panels. This is still just a very
small/insignificent/almost pointless idea because it would still cost a lot of money and take a lot
of time. Well if you got any efficient ways of desillination and destilling water that may or m....

the lease. Now, Steven & Theresa were dating and sharing a room. Robin & I are dating a....
The Pacific Ocean
DEEP (15) Well me and another person that I know were having an argument about how deep the deepest part of
the ocean really is. So I did alot of Googling and research and found this: The Deepest Ocean is
the Pacific Ocean. The Deepest PART of the Pacific Ocean is called the Mariana's Trench. The
depth of the deepest part of the Mariana's Trench is ROUGHLY 7 miles. It's more like 6.78
miles, but alot of sites have it different. If you were to take Bainbridge Island, WA, and take the
length from the very south point, to the very north point, and put it in the deepes....
Satellite Images Confirm Mystery Glow In Ocean
‘Milky sea’ colony of bacteria (14) QUOTE Mariners have long told of rare nighttime events in which the ocean glows intensely as far
as the eye can see in all directions. Fictionally, such a "milky sea" is encountered by the
Nautilus in Jules Verne classic "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." Scientists don't have a good
handle what's going on. But satellite sensors have now provided the first pictures of a milky
sea and given new hope to learning more about the elusive events. you can find the photo here:

Deep In The Heart Of The Ocean: Full Moon Rave
(0) Hi, Here I am again with another lot of snaps that I want to share with you all. These were taken
during my student days while I was engulfed by this wunderlust - my adventures all over thailand
captured using a Canon DigiCam. Not quite the results I'd expected (being an avid supporter of
FILM Cameras).. but still worth taking a second look. Most of these snaps here were taken during the
Full Moon Rave that Thailand is really famous for. It takes place on this island, some 150kms into
the ocean - completely cut-off from the world. It happens on the full moon nights....
Star Ocean: Till The End Of Time
Review! (1) Star Ocean is one of Enix’s more well known franchises, as Final Fantasy is to its counterpart
Square. Now that this merged company is composed of talent from both parties, one would assume that
their developmental abilities would increase dramatically. Does Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for
the Sony Playstation 2 Entertainment System live up to that assumption? Well, not quite, but it’s
still quite an enjoyable game nonetheless. In reality, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
was a highly anticipated sequel for quite some time. It was originally announced aro....
