The iPod touch is an iPod portable media player designed and marketed by Apple Inc. The device, which features a multi-touch interface, was unveiled to the general public on September 5, 2007 as part of an event dubbed "The Beat Goes On", - an event which featured the introduction of Cover Flow to the iPod line. The iPod touch uses 8 or 16 GB of flash memory, costing US$299 and US$399 respectively. It also has Wi-Fi and includes Safari, Apple's web browser. The iPod touch is the first generation of the iPod line to include wireless access to the iTunes Store. The iPod touch also has the capability to detect the current and last 10 songs playing in a Starbucks café within the vicinity of the device, and offers the user the opportunity to download the tracks in the iTunes music store. This feature will slowly be offered in limited markets. There are currently no plans to expand into international Starbucks stores.
The iPod touch has a touch screen interface similar to that of the iPhone. Like the iPhone, it includes a physical home button separate from the touch screen. The home screen includes a headphone set, an alarm clock and also a list of buttons corresponding to the available applications: Music, Videos, Photos, iTunes on the bottom button row. Safari, YouTube, Calendar, Contacts, Clock, Calculator, and Settings are at the top. The iPod touch comes preloaded with 28 wallpaper photos, some of which are figures from the iPod advertisements.
On October 17, 2007, Steve Jobs, in an open letter posted onto Apple's webpage, announced that an SDK for the iPhone would be made available to third-party developers in February 2008. Due to security concerns and Jobs' praise of Nokia's digital signature system, it is also suggested that Apple will adopt a similar method. The SDK will also apply to the iPod touch.
Just like the iPhone, the iPod touch has been jailbroken by numerous third-parties and users, allowing third-party applications and other homebrew to run on the iPod touch, many ported over from the iPhone.
Anyway about the iPod touch. I had the chance to try one at the apple store durring the leopard party. It is increadable. It is much thiner than the iPhone, and once the second generation comes out I'll be sure to get one!
I study marketing, and to tell you the truth, I fall for the charms of the apple products. But to be honest, the iPod Touch is total marketing. Of course it's cool, really. But the fact that you couldn't have third party apps made it lame (in my oppinion). And now with your announcement. I think of it better. But I tell you the truth. Nokia beats the iPhone. the Nokia Internet Tables allow Garnet OS (a new and cooler Palm OS) aps to be executed, and that well... Pwns the iPod Touch. The iPod touch has more charm and candy eye. But I care more for the functionality and the actual utility of the gadget. The Nokia Internet Tables are the best. They are not all well known, but if you read about them. Well, they are total win. (The new ones, mostly)
i think the ipod touch is pretty sweet. i mean if you dont want the hastle of the iphone than get the itouch. i have already thought it over and i think i wanna buy a itouch for christmas. i have never had a new ipod before so i am really looking forward to having it.
it just amazes me how apple can do this.. just.. such a small thing with so much potential. My dad has one, and i use it sometimes, it is like my dads favourite toy LOL
he watches tv while browsin youtube and other stuff, it has its own youtube browser, you can jail break it, add your own software, it is pretty easily hacked.. but yeah.. it was really simple to set it up to work on the internet, and its video, and image quality are AMAZING same with the audio.. i really think you should get one guys

Just so you know you don't have to jailbreak it to add your own widgets. Those can easily be added by anyone and can be programmed by anybody who has html/css/javascript experiance. Thats all they are programmed in! Only some complex programs that usually are for malicious intentions require the ipod to be jailbreaked first, but since its the ipod and not the iphone, it dosn't have too much more power. On the iPhone on the other had, people have gotten other phone services to work on their iPhone...

This made me not want to get the Itouch or Iphone. My psp uses custom firmware which has helped a lot with cool features that I couldn't have had normally or that Sony took way too long to come out with. The other thing is the memory size. 8 gigs of memory is way too little for music and on the itouch I know I can have 16 gigs but I need 32 gigs to hold my music library, some photos, and some videos. 16 gigs is a good amount and all but if I'm going to lose my phone capabilities I want to gain something. I would have settled with a 16 gig Iphone but we won't see that till the second generation I think. I just wish I knew when this second generation would come out.
Anyway what is this Nokia phone you talk about. I think I have heard about it but does it have all the features of the iphone?
Seems like iThis iThat is starting to get annoying, and so is the ipod series. To me, this looks like a over priced mp3 that has touch screen and looks like a wannabe apple iphone. Of course its still made from apple, but really, I'm happy with my ipod video from 2 years ago, fits me well . Of coursesmaller is always better now it seems, and more companies are developing smaller things with bigger compacity.
This morning I was going to listen to some music, so I got my iPod, turned it on, and it reset (I
hadn't had it plugged in for a while). When I got to the music, it would go through half of a
song, then skip to the next. After doing this a couple times, it would just skip entire songs.
It'd skip six or seven, then do half of one, then skip six or seven more. Later I looked on the
internet for some ideas, so eventually I tried resetting it again, as instructed. This worked for a
little bit, but then it started skipping over songs again. I reset again, and it lost...
Not sure if this is the right forum, but I didn't see anywhere else for it... Ok, my girlfriend
got a 4 GB iPod Nano about a month ago. She had about 100 songs on it and one day they just
disappeared. Her normal PC won't recognize that she has the iPod plugged in, and her
stepdad's laptop will recognize it... But after she transfers all the songs, and she unplugs the
iPod from the laptop, she loses all of her songs again... She talked to an apple guy, but they said
she needed to do a system restore on it, but they didn't tell her how... And she can't ...

I think all three brands are good at producing quality music but iPod is not a practical buy!
It's quite expensive.. whereas, creative and iriver will give you a lower price with MORE
features!!!!...
if some of you have not heard already, there is a linux for the ipod now. it allows you to a lot
more with your ipod. you can play vidoes on any ipod. like the nano. you can even run the first
person shooter called iDoom on it. linux does it again, putting commercial technology to shame.
whats nice you can swich to the normal apple firmware anytime you want. if you got an ipod try this,
its really easy to install. it will actually make your ipod worth for what you paid for it. just go
to www.ipodlinux.org hope this interests some people...
Not as iPod that using hard disk drive to store music data, iShuffle using flash memory stick as
many common digital music player like creative products. currently available in 512MB or 1GB storing
capacity. with its simply white color as first generation of iPod, it has no equalizer like iPod.
But it can produce hi fi pqrfect sound with deat flat frequency, no distortion til max volume. even
bass tones.. better than iPod. do anyone have it?...
hey did anybody hear about the virtual keyboard for pdas and other mobile items? i think they should
incorporate the vrtual keyboard into real computers so that you dont waste space with a real
keyboard. and virtual screens that would be awesome not only would be space saving but you would
never have to worry about getting fingerprints on the screen or ruining your precious LCD screen...
Well first and foremost, I'll say this: I'm an iPod man. I love iPods, I have two of them in
fact, and I've done a lot of things with them like hacking them to play doom, and some other
cool stuff. 30GB is quite a bit for an mp3 player, let alone the 60GB version. So there's also
room for not only your music, photos, and videos, but your other files, because you can use it as
sort of like a flash drive. So in short, I can't get enough of my iPods. But recently I heard of
Microsoft coming out with their Mp3 player. Even though not many details have bee...

QUOTE Imagine if you will, you have an iPod. That wasn’t too hard now was it? Now imagine
if your friend has one too and has some music you really want. The problem is you’ll have to
take your iPod to their PC connect it and transfer files onto your iPod. What potentially could go
wrong is if you end up syncing it to that PC by mistake, you’ll lose all your data. Now
imagine you’re hiking though the hills and are nowhere next to a PC, particularly your friends
PC. A company called miShare has developed a tool for just such quandaries. It...
Yeah the iPod is way overrated in my opinion. You might consider other players which may or may not
better suit your needs as a consumer. There are some gangsta media players out there, this one in
my opinion is way better than the iPod video /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P"

Microsoft to launch Zune! QUOTE After trying for years to compete with the iPod through an
array of partners, Microsoft confirmed Friday that it plans to directly go after Apple Computer with
its own rival, Zune. Confirming weeks of rumors, Microsoft said it will launch music software and
players under the Zune brand, though the software maker left plenty unsaid in its confirmation.
"Today we confirmed a new music and entertainment project called Zune," Chris Stephenson, a general
manager of marketing for the software maker, said in a statement. "Under the Zu...
well, here is the picture and a short article I found: here, here! it is said to have wi-fi
capabilities, so that you can download music without having a computer... you can download it right
from the device! it is set to launch sometime before christmas of this year. it is called the
'iPod killer', but, you never know, they may fail... i suppose you can use that term to any
mp3 player/company trying to be as successful as apple. the new iPod nano will also be debuting
sometime before christmas, sometime in the fourth quarter it is believed. This ...
A few months ago Phillips informed, that they are developing a new tipe of screen, which will be
made in a way, that one would be able to roll it up like a paper. They said that they'll need
aprox. 2 years till the first prototip, but they shortened this time A LOT and the first prototip is
here. Screen works in rolled-up mode too and if we want a bigger surface we just enrole it. It has
5 inches and it uses 320×240 resolution. It is 4-color black and white and the whole thing is only
10x6x2cm big so you can put it in your pocket. This new machine, named Reader, is...
There isnt much to say, So I'll quote QUOTE LG Electronics has unveiled a new TFT LCD

has anybody seen the new ipod tripod. as you all know the ipod can be placed in some portable
speakers to play the song out loud but now there is a tripod which is literally 3 legs spread out
like a triangle, two legs hav speakers and the third has a section to put ur ipod shuffle.i think
this is a pretty gud idea and a cool new thing that lots of people will buy because people with
shuffles hav not had any form of portable speakers to buy so far....
Has anyone else purchased this what could be perfect music player? I know somebody who purchased one
the day they came out and a few weeks later the screen was bad so he couldn't see what he was
doing. He still could use it but couldn't see what it was saying on the screen. The person did
take very very good care of it and rarely took it out of its protective case. So has anyone else
purchased one of these? If so have you had good luck with them or do the screens go bad for you?...

The neew ipod. I think that the ipod is a good invention but what is the point in making it so that
you can watch vidio's. Someones bound to get run over watching a vidio because they wont be

QUOTE t's official. At an event in San Jose Wednesday, Apple ended months of speculation by
introducing the first video-enabled iPod, moving the company into the portable media center space.
"Yes, it does video," Apple CEO Steve Jobs said in his keynote address as the audience erupted in
applause. The new iPod sports a 2.5-inch TFT display in a design similar to the iPod Nano. The
320x240 pixel display supports only 260,000 colors, but the iPod does include a video-out jack for
hooking up to a TV. Real-time decoding of MPEG-4 and H.264 video content is supporte...
hi friends, Apple has released a new version of Ipod. Actually it replaces the Ipod mini in the
ipod series. It is called the Ipod Nano. It is actually a slim ipod, 1.6 x 3.5 x .27 in size and

slideshows... The battery life has also been extended. Chek out the detailed comparison chart at
the apple website... Cheers. ...
