What if Nasa brings some samples of those microbes and then they turn out to be some type of virus that ends up being lethat to humans? That would be really messed up
well, if it's found on one area, it could also be found in other areas. so i don't necessarily think they killed all the specimen. they killed some in the area, but if that organism has been thriving in there for years, then most probably they've already multiplied, enough for it to have a colony or something.

I would like to see them but...your right, that's very dangerous...
well...that sucks if they killed the organisms by accident, but they didn't know...cant exactly blame them..at least now they know, and they can conduct more relevant tests that won't harm the potential types of organisms on mars =D
Experience is the best teacher but she gives the test first before the lesson. Failures are the foundation of success. Everything happens for a reason.
Oookay, so maybe the last one wasn't called for. Science has always been full of blunders like that, mostly stemming from not knowing what we will know in the near future. Back when carbon-dating was still relatively new and known to a limited number of people, a professor was once asked if a skull fossil he had was varnished or not. Licking its surface, he mused on the taste and, afterwards, commented it was not. What he inadvertently did was deposit thousands of genetic material on the fossil, making any carbon dating and genetic testing on it practically fouled up.
It was the same with the dodos. They were extincted on the island of Mauritius simply because we can kill them. Heck, it doesn't even make a nice meal for the sailors; they just killed them all for the fun of it. Later on, the last dodo specimen, a stuffed carcass was found, by a museum director, to be "too musty for the standards of the museum" and ordered it into the fire. A horrified (and probably more aware) personnel tried to rescue the poor dead bird from the flames but all the managed to salvage was a leg and a beak.
If, indeed, life were beginning on Mars, it could very well be a long long time before they turn into a sentient, intelligent specie. For all we know, bacteria could already be beginning the process of introducing oxygen into the Martian atmosphere. That is, of course, assuming we do not meddle with their evolution process
If there is hydrogen-peroxide microbes on mars we could have killed them. There's still no slightest amount of evidence that there are microbes. And if we did kill them, then there's gotta be more on the planet somewhere.
It's a pointless article; doesn't tell us anything.
I'm sure if NASA found life on Mars (which I'm sure there is) they wouldn't tell us at all. Why tell us anyway? The president will give orders to keep their mouths shut. Remember Roswell? Example: The press are told by officials that there is in fact life on Mars and then the next day they appologise and say it was fungus from before the probe left Earth. Typical.
God did what he did to put life wherever he wanted. Life could be anywhere.
But really, how do they know if they really "killed" the lifeform or not? Whether they did or did not there must be tons somewhere else, maybe even on the other planets.

but on the other hand some say man has already set foot on mars. and i strongly believe as it has been proved that there are traces of water on mars there might have been microscopic life on mars.
well not really. gender-wise, only men do that. it's in their nature. women, on the other hand are nurturers, life-protectors and life-creators. but of course i won't go talking about feminism to you.

Anyway, poor little microbes! Typical that we'd mess things up like that... hope they weren't endangered or anything. I'd love if we had real, live aliens, even if they were microscopic; I don't think anyone can honestly say it wouldn't be the teeniest bit exciting. If there are tiny aliens on Mars, there might also be larger ones that we've missed (after all, new species are discovered on Earth all the time... there could be LOADS of life on Mars we haven't found yet). Plus, there could be aliens on many of the other planets out there! I can't think of any practical reasons why having aliens in itself would be a good thing, but I'm sure we'd figure it out once we knew exactly what they were. Besides, I've always been one of those that wants to believe, yknow?
I hope they dont bring anything back from mars...I already think that a lethal virus has come from outer space...Ebola....it is strange that we visited mars in the 70's but it is even stranger and a huge coincidence that the first Ebola outbreak took place on August 26, 1976....now i don't know what you guys think about this but i think Ebola is an alien virus...it kills in less then 2 weaks and causes your pores too bleed...this dosnt sound like any earthlike virus i know...No cure No vaccines and it is a surprisingly new virus..If it had been around before the 70's im sure there would be refrence to it in old stories, books, or even the biblical out breaks but no, the first case ever heard of was in 1976..makes you think dosn't it? -KuSh

I'd love if we had real, live aliens, even if they were microscopic; I don't think anyone can honestly say it wouldn't be the teeniest bit exciting. If there are tiny aliens on Mars, there might also be larger ones that we've missed (after all, new species are discovered on Earth all the time... there could be LOADS of life on Mars we haven't found yet). Plus, there could be aliens on many of the other planets out there! I can't think of any practical reasons why having aliens in itself would be a good thing, but I'm sure we'd figure it out once we knew exactly what they were. Besides, I've always been one of those that wants to believe, yknow?
