hi
i have a free webhost included cpanel
but it's cpanel is not full and i can not protect my dir through it.
then i think i should use .htaccess .
now i dont how i must creat .htaccess files or hoy to using it sad.gif sad.gif
can any one help me pl

but how can i use that code?
i can not creat a .htaccess file on my pc to upload it sad.gif
what should i do?

Try this htaccess file generator and htaccess password generator:

or this simple yet good:

or

Open notepad, insert the code you want, after reading those tutorials, then save it has htaccess.txt .

Then go to the folder where you saved the htaccess.txt file and rename it to .htaccess

That is it, exactly like that: .htaccess (with the point behind, and no extension.)

Then upload it to the directory you want to protect with password or whatever you want to do.

You must read that complete tutorial, or the first link.

some users can't rename a file and take out the beginning, so open it in text,

file>save as

then in the drop down list, instead of selecting text files, select all files

now in the name area, type ".Htaccess", hit save, and you're set.
