does someone know where I can find a working server and client? I'm going to be making a mmorpg and I need someone to make models for me, you will get paid depending on the the model or if someone is willing to do it for free that would be great.

check out the konfuze.com website, they are a great community.
they are always in development but this program allows you to
create your own mmorpg. it gives you a server and client package
so if you turn the server on and have the client avalable for downlaod
on your website, they can connect to your server and play your MMORPG

Go check thier site out

Are you sure that you can make a mmorpg from that website. Is the servers for free? If so that would be pretty cool to create a mmorpg though I think that it would require alot of skills in programming to create a game that is mmorpg.

Is the download free, or do you need to purchase it?
then...if it is free... are you sure it's legal? i mean...there are so many people out there that dont realize that RPG maker is...and they dont think anyone got in trouble...BLAH!...lol
anyway... please tell me because i am working on an mmorpg using flash, and it is quite dificult. If this would make it easier then i cant think of a reason not to use it.

So did I, and I found out the reason - the domain has expired.

It seems that the people running this website are using a host that needs constant payment/activity, and unfortunately the owners have not delivered. So the site has expired and been redirected.

Good reason to close this topic, perchance?

I don't think you can make with halp of that site a mmorpg game.

Dellboy: Try to make an action game with FPS creator, you can't learn programing in one day smile.gif .

Who ever said it was impossible its really not,

If you want to make your own MMORPG, all you'll need to do is learn basic programming (Script)

Learn how to make Basic Character/Maps (2D is alot easier)

Compose your own music or obviously get copyright.

When you've finished it all and your happy, find a Engine/Server that you want to run your game on. (You'll have to pay a monthly fee, Small games don't cost alot to run) £5-£7 a month, which is less that paying for WoW :o

so really its not that hard if you put your mind to it ;)

c i am new here today is my 1st in this website....
is it really possible to make morpgs?
if it is I wanna giv it a shot... anyone wanna guide me + team up cuz dats wat all the website.... smile.gif
i was reading through bunc of websites scince the morning

Of course it's possible; if it wasn't there wouldn't be any of them around. The catch is that there is no easy way to go about it. You can't just throw some sprites on an engine and expect people to actually play your game. You also can't just ask a few people who are actually good with programming/spriting/composing/etc. to make your game for you and expect to take credit for it simply because "it was my idea!" (You'd be surprised how often that happens.) In short, pick a programming language, study night and day for three months, learn to sprite, put down $50 for a decent looking site, make an engine, THEN go to some people for help with other areas, get a job to pay for the site's monthly fees, and spend a few hours a day maintaining it. That's the LEAST you'll need to do to be even partially successful. tongue.gif

EDIT: And just so you know I'm not blowing smoke, I actually registered here so I can get a website with a domain for my own MMORPG. wink.gif

The concept is interesting but this won't work out for a lot of people, will it? As Kirkland above said, it does cost a "ton" to host such games and even if you have the resources to host it, getting the attention of players would be a very tough task since everyone is hooked to either WoW or some similar kind of mmorpg's sad.gif

It does... and it doesn't really work. Because you have to risk the fact that no one will like your game, and a game will die if no one is active on it. Plus, you will have to find ways to keep up with your hosting, and buy the engines and such (though I really don't know what they do). Most people playing games online go "Oh my god! I want to make my own game!!!" but you can't.

Because it's too hard.

I've been there before, done that before...

Not good. Just doesn't work. End of discussion.

Which is why I gave up and I'm working on my other projects now. smile.gif
