| | In response to Google Earth, Microsoft has launched a new map site with stunning satellite images that beat Google's images. (for now) I couldn't believe how detailed it was when I looked up my house. It takes a bit of getting used to since the images are from an angle. However, the close up is way better than Google's map.

yea i just saw something on TV about that local.live.com and it looked nice.. and you dont need to install and download any big program like google earth. so its not so bad, and yes images on close lookup are better, they are only like 20m away from object. btw i think its in beta so only america is included... but others soon i hope.

Yeah but the problem is that their "birds-eye" images are not available for all areas. I for one tried to check it out and look and my house but they dont have the images available for that area so im out of luck. For now, ill stick with google earth anyway

The ones for Britain don't seem to go as close as the ones on Google yet. All that matters to me is the best quality images, available at higher zoom levels. Plus Microsoft's version seems to stall sometimes in any browser other than IE.

Yes, not that good for my country...And yes, not that well with my opera. So we should wait for more areas to be covered...soon and for more browsers compatibility...never . See u around.

I tnd to find all of these type of services pretty much useless, I mean its ok if you live in a major city, especially in the US (which I do not) then they put some effort into it, but in lesser known towns they don't usually bother to get any decent images, granted the directions are pretty much spot on and the local business searching is usefull, I just tend not to have a use for mapping services, I would say though that if I had to use one I still prefer the general feel of Google Maps, but you know there are other companies out their besides Google and Microsoft.
