Microsoft is recalling power cords on 14.1 million Xbox consoles worldwide, following reports of injuries due to defective electrical components. The company announced the recall on Thursday, saying it is aimed at protecting the consoles from electrical-component failures that can pose a fire hazard. So far, such failures have been reported in 30 consoles, causing minor injury or property damage, Microsoft said. Seven customers reported burns to their hands. In the rest of the cases, the defect caused smoke damage or minor damage to a carpet or entertainment center. In Europe, consoles made before Jan. 13, 2004, will need replacement cords, the company said. In all other areas, the recall covers consoles manufactured before Oct. 23, 2003. Orders for replacement cords can be placed at the Xbox Web site. New cords will take up to four weeks to arrive. Until the new cord comes, customers should turn off consoles when not in use, the company said. Power cord problems have dogged other device makers in the past. Last year, for example, Dell recalled 4.4 million defective power adapters sold with notebooks between 1998 and 2002. "This is a preventative step we're choosing to take despite the rarity of these incidents," Robbie Bach, senior vice president at Microsoft’s entertainment division, said in a statement. "We regret the inconvenience but believe offering consumers a free replacement is the responsible thing to do."

its odd, u must have great writing skills as well as found the infomation in person not on a website.. or else that should be quoted and sourced right? because any time you get info and even place it in your own words, you must source it. then to copy 6 paragraphs which look like you did no editing of what so ever simply copied and pasted.... must be quoted and sourced. and the amazing thing is, out of your last 5 posts, you have no quotes yet you didnt write it. recent examplei really suggest you read the rules

Problems With Vista. (report Will Be Sent To Microsoft)

hi, before i get started with this ever growing list to this new OS, let me explain the terms of
these programs not working. Windows Vista is a new High end operating system pulling high system
resorces from your computer. The reason some of these programs may fail or plain not work at all
may not always be the OS's fault. The bigest problem with vista is the ram and proccesor usage.
And as an added note, if you want to know why im making so many posts about vista, i am simply
expressing the problems of the operating system to future users. The Beta right now is...

Excel would incorrectly display 100,000 as the answer. Gainer said Excel makes mistakes multiplying
77.1 by 850, 10.2 by 6,425 and 20.4 by 3,212.5, but the program appears to be able to handle
16,383.75 times 4. "Further testing showed a similar phenomenon with 65,536 as well," ...

lot of eye candy that are just there to look good. But what supprozed me about the beta is the eye
candy in this version actually has a purpose. Most of the flashy pop ups or right menus actually
