Metatags

I just did a meat tag analysis and it was awful!
I hate to appear ignorant but I guess I don't know what I am doing! Can anyone tell me exactly how and in what order all my metatags should be and belisted...

here is what the report said was missing:

Found no robots meta tag.
This tag is not really required but helps spiders to index the web page.

Author: Found no author meta tag.
This tag is not really required but helps for your (company) name recognizing.

Found no description meta tag.
The description meta tag is used by most of the search engines. Consider to add a description meta tag.

lol .. dun worry about meta tag thing
just use a meta tag generator and that will save u alot of time to do more useful things

you are too late now a days search engines don't give much preference for the meta tags, so you better go to google and give these key words

1) Search engine optimization
2) Search engine Key generator

I put mine on all my pages just in case, but like someone said above, search engine spiders nowadays don't care for meta tags anymore

don't know much the meta spider but with regaurds of putting it on every page its over doing it unless your website is specific about something in general especially if you running a online store and all that good stuff.

But if you have an online store, it is a good idea to have a different meta description for each product because general terms won't cover everything and meta keywords are largely overlooked. The meta description is still quite important. On your home page it should describe the site in general, but on other pages it should give more specific info about the content on those pages.

Also many other search engines still use meta tags also keep following in mind with meta keywords: dont use words that are 2 general/broad so dont use words like mp3, download, forum, .. their deadly errors to make !
also never use more then 20 keywords in ur metatags maximal !
its best to have unique metatags on every page and they also have to be present in the real content and/or the header for best seo !
try to use uniwue metatags !
and most of all with all u do/make have fun and experiment !

Search engines concern about this meta tags:
description and keyword tags.

The important is that you filled up this tags:
-TITLE
-DESCRIPTION
-KEYWORD

meta robots only used to tell the search engine robots/spiders that you want to index or dont index the rest of your webpages.

The rest of the meta tags are not important anymore in search engines. But its still fine to implement all of those tags in each pages.

This is confusing, let someone say on authority whether mata tags are needed or not and if needne are ther required on all pages or just the index page..

my website is powered by IPB^_^!
and my meta tag i just added in the warpaper edit.
i just have the description and keywords.
i have not the robots meta and author
