| | I don't recommend using Download services (file upload services). It feels uneasy to upload files to an unknown server that I don't know of. You can try to share files legally (with permission) on P2P networks. |

ROFLMAO,
All those P2P networks r dangerous, theyr terrible, things like limewrie can auto-download viruses and bad content, we had a thing on news bout it
Actually, sites of this sort are difficult to maintain when they got popular. Either they will have to promote some sort of VIP services, like unlimited download and higher speed, or they will have to reduce their upload limits. Most of the time they are doing both. As long as the discrepancy between paid and free services widen, there bound to be some loss in the number of free users and some increase of paid users. Rapidshare and Clubbox is going both direction. Megaupload is actually a variant of Rapidshare and YouSendIt. It is not surprising that it is going towards such direction. I like BT more than these upload and download servers. Although BT is more time dependent, it is generally much faster than these services.
ROFLMAO, All those P2P networks r dangerous, theyr terrible, things like limewrie can auto-download viruses and bad content, we had a thing on news bout it There are many virusses and Spyware on the classic P2P networks. Most of the time you see it on the file size (small files), but it can also be a big file that's infected by a virus. Since no one owns the network, these files will be always there because the people that have these files on their drive haven't every heard of virusses I think. Bittorent is a fast sharing medium and since it's a bit more difficult to use there are less virusses. The only problem you have is that you have to find torrent files to download the content. Bittorent is also frequently used to download (and share) linux distributions (on CD or DVD size).
Yes its also a pain on sites such as youtube when they change the limits and so forth, that there are still media files out there that are well over 10 minutes. But then again it was uploaded before the limits were changed.
I also agree to an extent about P2P, especially with the GATOR spyware controversy in the past on various classic P2P programs.
Heh, and I remember how I also put up a Megaupload rant here too... They already reduced their service for other countries by giving them meager 100 slots (which are seemingly always full). Now they do this!? Hold on... if they don't want to serve by putting up all these restrictions, then they shouldn't have put up their free service at all! I'd rather see one starting out with small things then getting bigger than this. If they're personally bothered about the expenses their free service is giving them, why don't they just quit altogether? It pretty much annoys me that they screen IPs and don't let other countries besides US, UK, Canada, etc. download without any slot limits. To think I used it a lot before... they're slowly withdrawing their grasp.
100 slots. I wouldnt bother providing the service if thats the case, and many would'nt bother trying if a very limited amount of slots for whats normally a popular service is available.
That pretty much sucks for the users of MegaUpload.. I have a rapidshare premium account myself, it works fast and very well. I would suggest anyone who often downloads a lot of files to get a premium account, it skips all the hassle.
A trap17.com upload service would be great, but admins should only give members who have a lot of hosting credits access to it, maybe deduct hosting credits for every MB downloaded or something.
Mmmm... today I uploaded a file to rapidshare.de and only after having uploaded it, they told me that I must register (for free) if I wanted the link. At first I was a little angry because I thought that my file was going to be lost but I registered and it was there. Anyway I think that is not fair. I mean, itīs your server do what you want, make it free, with registration or paying, but donīt let me think that I can upload a file and then force me to register if I want to get the link, because youīre making me lose my time. Sorry, I know that is not Megaupload but I think it is a enough related thing to put here.
Yeh, well I think that instead of having 1 credit for every 1mb downloaded, it shud be like... the amount of bandwidth used divided by 10 and then, that amount of credits are taeknn away, but then again, if its a file that will be downloaded alot, you shud be able to upload, and it then sends a request to have extra/unmetered bandwidth allowed for that specific download... only if accepted
