Isn't martial law more to the conservative side, wouldn't you think? Though Bush doesn't seem to have much respect for the Constitution, I doubt martial law would be declared unless some major crisis occured(such as major terror attacks, a war, or peak oil goes worst-case).
Whoever wins the election, can not only affect American lifes, he also
can affect other lives in many many countries in the World. As a human being, one should care and encorage the World peace and environment. So please vote responsibly. I doubt Bush himself would make anything socialist, but perhaps his '9/11 Council" or whatever it is would. I hope they just dissapear.
They can cause martial law to be declared if they stage a crisis. I personally think that 9/11 was planned. Or at least they knew about it but did not want to do anything. I do not believe that the government does advocate us anymore. It is doing next to nothing to fulfill it's original purpose. More and more states are turning into POLICE STATES. All that they want is money. So why wouldn't they declare martial law?

calling that would require approval by others, and he couldnt just veto the constitution either. Not that he would want to....... the most likely scenario would be another terror attack if kerry won..... after deliberating w/himself for hours, he would finally call martial law, then take it back, and then call it again, and etc....
What makes you think Bush would declare Martial Law if elected? Martial Law is for a rebellion or uprising from within the country. Therefore, it could be indirectly related to a terrorist attack or oil shortage, but not directly.
we had Martial Law here in the Philippines, and it turned out bad!! that's because the leader dodn't want to get out of the position. actually in the Philippine constitution, Martial Rule is a part of a healthy democracy, but the recent presidents are not declaring it because they're afraid of kick-out to their position by people power.
i don't know about the the US constitution, but i think the federal type of governmet there is working very well, so why change??

martial law has only been inflicted I believe twice in US history. Though I am not entirely sure. I am not really for it, but I am not against it if the time calls for such extreme measures.
I don't think that they are differant. What actions has he made that would prove a point differant than my conclusion and the conclusion of others. With the draft, and all the other points I am afraid of both him and Kerry.
What makes you think that he he would not have the support of all that he needs. Most of his policys help only the rich, so of course they would support all his endeavors. If any "crisis" does happen to occur that gives them the excuse to do that, then I would not be surprized if those in authority did know about it before it happened, and decided that they would just let it happen. Think about the past. Think about Vietnam. All of the corruption in the political system will come to a catalyst. If martial law was declared, I would gather all of my friends and get out on the first boat to wherever the Captain was going (or where we could pay him to take us). It is lucky that I know many degenerate fisherman and captains.
