| | Seeing as there are quite a few people aboard the forums that train in martial arts I think it would be intersting to see what styles are covered.
I am currently studying Escrima and Wing Tsun.
What about you? |

Hey. I think this was a nice idea for a post. It'd be nice to see what types of art's people are studying today. I myself am training in 6 different martial arts: Shotokan Karate Kodokan Judo Ninjitsu Jujitsu Freestyle (A combination of several different arts) Thai Boxing Again great post, and Escrima and Wing Tsun -- well that sounds impressive. I don't know much about them, but I do know that they are rare, and I'd like to say that it's great that people are stopping arts from dieing out by giving the more non convential arts a try. Sean.

- Is It Really Possible? (20)
Is It Really Possible To Teach Yourself Martial Arts? Well, it's a good question,
and one which is often asked by those that want to master the skills of either sporting martial
arts, or combat martial arts. The truth is simple, and the answer is quick : No. It is not possible
to teach yourself martial arts from scratch to a good level, how ever, this does not mean that you
can not teach yourself to fight. You can quite simply teach yourself to fight, but to fight to a
martial arts standard without the help of self help dvd's, instructors or aid is a...
Martial Arts? What's Your Viewpoint? Thugs Game Or Profeshional Sport?
- Have your say.. wether your a martial artist.. boxer, sports man or a (15)
Ok, so I want to know everyone's viewpoints on martial arts... What do you think? Is it a sport?
Is it an art? Is it a thug's game?? Let me know what you think please.. Ok so personally, I
don't see how it could possibly be a thug's game, in all the time of training in both Karate
and Judo I've never seen an essance of anything that we see in the papers being preformed by
groups of youths (just to say I'm not targetting teens, I'm a teen myself.. but you know the
dudes I mean), and to me it is an art, just like dance or anything else like tha...

Aggression In Martial Arts
- Is Aggression neccessary in competitions?? (5)
For many, it is believed that aggression is the winning element of a fight. They believe that it’s
this rage that overpowers the target and gives you that animal drive. Is this the same to you? Do
you believe that to be truly successful in a fight you must be seeing blood and fuming? Well, if
it is I ask you to consider something else, another possibility; motive. Although when you feel so
angry, that you feel the blood boiling beneath your surface that’s the winning element right? Well,
maybe it’s wrong. In fact, from experience I can tell you that usually when your s...
Freestyle Martial Arts
- What's Your Standpoint? (0)
We ourselves, as freestyle artists, feel that it is important to question our very routes, and take
a look at what we are. This is perhaps something that you never really thought about, as freestyle
is a somewhat modern term, but the actual idea of combining different styles is something that has
been going for many thousands of years. Freestyle is the study of a combination of martial arts,
or an adapted style of fighting. It is not a 'new' martial art, nor is it an 'old'
martial art. Freestyle's routes lie in the 80's, and the development of n...
Martial Science
- Does It Really Make Sense?? (0)
It's a fairly new question that is becoming more and more common, and it is a question that can
spark some quite interesting debates. I thought of it after I was finishing a piece for my website.
Tell me what you think of the theory of martial science, leave your views plz... (By the way I
really don't know much about it, so it might not make complete sense /smile.gif"
style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ) Ok so science plays a big
roll in everything that we do, see or hear. It's the physical proof of a certain theory. So ...
