Marathon Training? - Looking for a training plan

insomniac_zach
I can currently run 11 miles without dying. I'm almost to a half marathon and my goal is to by next year be able to complete a full marathon by the end of summer of 08. Does anyone have any tips on diet and weekly exercise?

I don't have any tips on exercising and dieting, but I can say that I am very impressed!! I know that I would definitely pass out after like, 3 miles, let alone 11. And that's only if I took breaks to walk and such. So, nice work with being in good cardio shape and such. Let us know how your marathon goes, it will be interesting to hear how you did! I'll try and find some tips to pass along, I know a few people who did a lot of cross country stuff.

How long have you been running?

Best of luck with your marathon!!

Here is a link to a site which I highly recommend.

Jeff Galloway has an excellent, proven method for getting to the goal of running a Marathon. Reduce your weekly mileage but run wisely. He increases the Sunday Long run about 1 mile at a time until you have reached your goal.

Of course, you need to have a good fitness level and a Base of running in order to do this, but it should only take about 6 months to get to your goal of a marathon distance from where you are right now.
Here is the Training schedule he recommends for FINISHING a Marathon and if you read his information, he suggests that 'finishing' the race is the important part for your first Marathon. Worry about the time on the next one, but just finishing is the critical goal for your first one.

Good luck with it.

its nice and wonderful to hear that you can run 11 miles continuously...

i cant even run for more than 2 miles continuously.

from my part i suggest you not to forget to do some post and pre exercising and stretching to avoid any harm to your muscles.

i wish you good luck. hope to see you as a champion...

God bless you.

11 miles continuouslly ? i am really glad to hear that . My sincere advice is that running 11 miles is good and as you have said before you are preparing for your marothon race , but on the other hand you have to do one important thing that is you have to concentrate on your diet.

Because you run so much your body breaks down all the energy within yourself that is even the Fats so if you dont have a good diet you may loose weight and may become weak.

So take care and all the best for your marathon!

You can find one of the best free running-scheme-generators on the recently improved Asics website www.myasics.com (or www.myasics.com/running).

One of the website's cool features is the posibility to track your running route on a map, from wich the distance is automatically calculated.
