Use cpanel to create a sub-domain is what you need, then add the joomla/mambo there. There won't be any conflicts then. If you want to then do a re-direct to the sub-domain. it should work.
so, right now your account url is "myacct.trap17.com"
create a sub-domain named "subone" and install the joomla in it. Access to the joomla would be: "subone.myacct.trap17.com/joomla"
I am suggesting a redirect so when you use the first URL the user is taken to the second one. Makes the URL shorter is all.

How would you extract it on the server? We don't hhave SSH or telnet access. The best I can think of to do that is a Perl or PHP script that runs tar and gzip on the server.
I think you should decompress it first using one of the archiving programs like WinRar, WinZip, etc. then upload it by ftp to your host (probably trap17 forums' hosting). If you are on a dial-up connection it should take a while to upload all the cms files.
After the upload process is done, the next steps are very easy. Mambo/Joomla shall guide you to succesfully install their cms in a few easy steps.

I have tried uploading the uncompressed files and even over DSL it took forever (mostly because the connection would hang in the middle of a folder and I would have to do each folder individually). Does anyone have a script that runs gzip and tar (or can write one)? By the way, I have installed Mambo before, and I agree that the wizard is intuitive.
I am a newbie when it comes to customising the XP installation but I found it interesting. I was
amazed when I saw what nLite could do for me, although I faced some problems. I filled every field
in the Unattended category but still my setup asked me for the language settings. I also wanted to
slipstream WM10 into the setup CD but everyone was pointing me to this link , which does not work.

Hi all, I am running a Mac and I have a Windows XP home edition already installed on another
partition via boot camp. Then I ran into Parallels and began installing it. However, instead of
using the existing installation via boot camp, it is asking me to provide a cd key to activate XP. I
couldn't possibly provide a cd key as I already used it to activate. How can I get Parallels to
use the existing installation without asking me to provide another cd key? I gave up and thought of
uninstalling Parallels but I couldn't do it on the Windows side as I was require....

Transfered all of the database files over. On my new forums all of the old posts and everything
shows up right. The problem is when I click the "Go to administration panel" at the bottom it links
me to log into my ACP on my old forums. It changes the url and all. If I hover over the link it

I've chosen to install WordPress manually and things were going well so far...until I hit an
installation error when I tried to run the install.php file on my browser. For the record, I
logged into CPanel and went into MySQL Databases, created the databases, the username and added the

Hi, i need a little help if possible, i have a multi forum hosting mod for ipb 1.31 ok.. I want to
install this but the install text included is a little unclear.. I already have a copy of ipb 1.31
installed and running (with users and posts), i want to install this mod but i also want to keep all
my db user/post info and still be able to use my existing forums with just a link to the forum
hosting form. Could someone please look at the documents included with this mod and give me more

Hey everyone. I've gone without the Sims 2 for a while now and I just went out and spent
$50 for another copy of it. Well I uninstalled my other copy since I cracked the first disk of
it and I couldn't get a no-cd patch to work. Then I installed my new copy and when I put the
first disk in, it starts up but after that nothing happens and the Sims 2 white screen that pops up
disapears. And when I open up Task Manager, Sims2.exe just drops off the list, and when I press the
Sims 2 icon on my desktop, the white screen comes up again and after that the infamous,....
