It's free and open-source. I deployed it to my web site in about 15 minutes. Once you understand the concept of modules and components (Mambots are not really nessecary to know well), you are on your way to one great site.

I tried it once, it seemed to be a bit to complicated and little restricting on the templates for the begginner.

I have used Mambo for over a year and would recommend to anyone who wants good features and administration interface along with a nice community with many plugins.. The portal is better than Php nuke as far as administration is concerned. One issue being the absence of a good forum. But Simple Machines Forum(SMF) can be installed and a bridge be used to integrate the login and registration system for both Mambo as well as SMF. Cheers.

Besides Mambo, there is another very good CMS called Joomla!. Actually Joomla! is a brother (or sister, as you prefer) of Mambo, and many people says that it is even better than Mambo. Mambo is good yeh, but if you know how to use it! My mate is good at this sort of stuff and he uses mambo and his site looks great so far, Id post a link but yah know  I tried Mambo on another host at got lost with it, its very confusing at first and looks a bit unprofessional, but on the inside its not! If your interested I always find e107.org are a good CMS

I checked out Joomla, and it seems a bit over-rated. Interestingly, I found that Joomla templates work fine with Mambo 4.5.2 (I didn't check out modules and Mambots). I like the Mambo Web sites better (like mamboserver.com and mamboforge.net) and, like Netscape, perfer the original versions that aren't over-hyped.

Have used mambo before and I like this CMS, it is pretty easy to work around with, of course there is some learning curve but you will find that it's not that so stiff. Nuke is good too and I can say most possibly have a lot follower that mambo. Once you get a hang on this CMS thing then it would be easy, creating a community site would be a bliss

You can find templates all over the Internet. Just pull up your favorite search engine, type in something like "free mambo templates" (or even try looking for Joomla! templates) and you will get thousands of results.

Mambo is obselete The dev team have put all of the latets release of mambo and started development of a new CMS named Joomla!. Essentially it is exactly the same, only with 3 minor patches released so far adressing issues etc. Mambo is a dead CMS now, but Joomla! is exactly the same so you might aswell upgrade. Also There is going to be a new major release near Xmas, which will hopefully have new features and supported "bridges" JOOMLA!

by Microsoft. I've tried OpenOffice but it was still too big. Right now I only have AbiWord to
