i would suggest that the best and the easy way to run a home server is that go for windows , windows has desined an exciting application , the IIS , just by installing and configuring IIS in your system you can have a server running in your computer , all you must do is that you will have a WWW folder , just drag and drop you pages into that folder and that is done you can host a webserver from home

   Hi Guys! A friend of mine came to me asking me to help him write code for his server so that
   his clients can go on his site and create a webmail account. I told him I'm not a programmer but
   I googled the subject. I ran into SquirrelMail and was impressed with what it could do. Going

3. Two Lan Ports Problem

   here....i think i know the problem...but i cant find the solution.... I use windows XP SP 2 ...Asus
   motherboard.. I use integrated Ethernet port (NVIDIA nforce controller) to connect to the hostel LAN
   and used the same connection to get internet (using proxy). I played counter-strike without any
   problem... Everything worked fine until i took a direct ADSL internet connection... So i installed
   a separate ethernet card (INTEX rtl8139D) which i use to connect to the internet... So now i have
   two LAN ports ...one for internet and one for LAN... The problem is...i cant con....

   that is how it goes.. Ok.. I am trying to run both an XAMPP server, and a Ventrilo server. I
   connect to it fine with 127.0.0.1 (vent server and xampp) but nobody else can connect with my IP
   address, not even remotely to my router (router control panel with password and IP and port) How do
   i fix this? Ghost rider ( i think that's his trapian name) said it might be because the modem
   can't choose what router to send the IP to... any solutions guys? Need more deta....
