http://ipodlinux.org I have completely transformed my old photo iPod into a video playing, gameboy emulating, scripting machine! Yes, you can actually play uncompressed .avi videos on a photo iPod. I'm not saying that you can play new Gameboy Advance games or NDS games, but the developers at iPodLinux have created an emulator to run the roms of original gameboy games. The controls are placed around the touch wheel. You touch (not press) the upper-left corner for the "A" button, the upper-right corner for the "B" button, the lower-left corner for the "Start" button, and the lower-right corner for the "Select" button. I've been a part of the iPodLinux community for a while, and I've watched it grow and grow. And things only get better If you have an iPod of any kind, from the first generation black and white screened to the latest fifth generation video iPods, I highly suggest checking this out!

Same here guys, I totally recomend it for anybody that has a non-color iPod because it just makes it even better and stuff then the regualar iPod default software. You can customize certian things and change around mutliple settings that can enhance certian fields of the iPod, you can also remove it at anytime if you don't like it. Good for any iPod and lots of fun games too.

iPodLinux is a µCLinux-based Linux distribution targeted specifically to run on Apple Computer's iPods. Besides the kernel, iPodLinux features as a primary component podzilla and podzilla2, applications which provide: * An iPod-like interface * Video playback with sound * Support for AAC, MP3 and basic OGG playback. * Many games, including TuxChess, bluecube(tetris clone), Chopper, StepMania (a Dance Dance Revolution clone) and more. * Recording through audio jack at much higher quality than Apple's firmware * Ability to play the game Doom (both versions 1 and 2), as well as games for the Nintendo Game Boy (with appropriate add-on software). * Color scheme support its cool, i have it!!!

To get iPod Linux go here: http://ipodlinux.org/Main_PageInstallation guides are available here: http://ipodlinux.org/Installationfor the iDoom page go here: http://ipodlinux.org/DoomInstallation file for Windows: http://www.josh.sys-techs.com/installer/ip...taller-2.2w.zipInstallation file for Linux: http://www.josh.sys-techs.com/installer/ip...ler-2.2l.tar.gzInstallation for Mac: http://ipodlinux.org/MacInstallerI have a 30GB Video and it works perfectly fine. Although I have once had to redo the firmware. MAKE SURE to backup your firmware to a safe location if you install iPodLinux. If you don't have your firmware and your firmware gets corrupted your iPod (as far as I know) becomes useless.

Linux Games
Any linux gamers out there? (0) Hi, are there any linux players out there? I know there are a lot of unique linux games out there,
but they are too much to try them all (and my drive space is very limited). I'm currently
trying auteria, a nice mmorpg, also available for windows. I like it because it's not as
stupid (personal opinion), as most otherf MMORPG in which everything I do is killing monsters to get
better weapons and higher levels to kill more monsters. Of course you can do the same in Auteria, if
you want... but besides that it's really nice and you can do a lot of other thing....

If Mac Osx Is Best With Hardware, Where Does Linux Lie?
(5) Here's a good question: Is Linux better at utilizing hardware efficiently to produce optimal
performance out of your components. I hear a lot about Mac OSX being so much better with Intel
processors and yada yada, but I don't know if this is true or if a bunch of Mac elitists said a
bunch of crap and ran with it. I don't think there are actual comparable benchmarks, but if
there are, where does Linux lie in the hardware efficiency race? (Or is it dependent on which Linux
distribution it is, like how XP still beats Vista in performance?)....
What Made You Switch To Linux?
(31) I first tried Linux a few years ago, not because I was completely against Windows or anything like
that, but just because I had some free time on my hands. I started off with Mandrake 9.0 which was
very user friendly and Windows-like. After reading through a bunch of message boards and learning
which distros are good for what, I soon realized my current distro was great for Linux noobs. So
then I decided to try something a little more advanced like Slackware which I knew had a steep
learning curve. Since then I've been using Slackware as my main OS and couldn't ....
Zune Ii, Is This Gonna Be An Ipod Killer?
(12) Many people have been disappointed with the Zune- Microsoft's attempt at developing an iPod
killer media playing machine. I don't know too much about media players, but you would think
that if it has wifi capabilities, it should be able to go online. Well, the MS Zune lets you preview
other people's music, which you would then have to buy. I guess that the idea has some merit,
but come on? I digress. Does anyone think that the Zune will outsell the ipod this holiday season?
Some people seem to think so. With a price tag of $100 in some popular electroni....
Ubuntu Linux As Free Operating System Alternative
linux operating system (46) About three years ago I decided to learn how to use Linux and after a lot of posts on a forum I
tried Ubuntu Linux as it was recommended as a good first Linux distro. Ubuntu is not the easiest
Linux distro to use but with its unmatched forum community support it is one of the easiest to learn
to use. One of the problems with learning Linux is that a lot of users have an attitude that Linux
should be a free Windows knock off which it is not. Ubuntu is build on a Linix core or kernel and is
a different Open Source and free as in to use operating system. This brings us to t....

Linux - Why It Fails As A Desktop Operating System?
(34) Linux is becoming such a craze nowadays that not even a single day passes without one or other
distribution releasing a new version. But why is it failing so miserably in the desktop arena. The
answer lies in three reasons. 1. The plethora of distributions -
Redhat,Debian,Ubuntu,Suse,Gentoo,Knoppix - everbody and his uncle is coming out with new ones. 2.
The lack of backward compatibility - I had Redhat 7.3 running. I upgraded to Redhat 9. Many
applications had to be recompiled. You ask my mom to recompile applications - She will throw out
Linux and take Windows anyday. ....

What Linux Distro Do You Use ?
(63) I've just recently tried linux and I must say I"m really impressed with the new KDE and Gnome
environments, as well as the shere number of OSS available. I'm really excited about devling
deeper into this more stable and efficient OS; This coming from a windows user since it's dawn.
I've started with Gentoo 2006.0 to get my feet wet, and I'm planning to grab the new Fedora
Core 5 when I get a chance (as well as more cd's/dvd's) - it was recommended to me.
Anyways, what linux flavor do you prefer and why ? ....

Ipod Not Working, Need Help
(15) Not sure if this is the right forum, but I didn't see anywhere else for it... Ok, my girlfriend

My Ipod Is Randomly Skipping Songs, Losing Data,
regaining data, and freezing (21) This morning I was going to listen to some music, so I got my iPod, turned it on, and it reset (I
hadn't had it plugged in for a while). When I got to the music, it would go through half of a
song, then skip to the next. After doing this a couple times, it would just skip entire songs.
It'd skip six or seven, then do half of one, then skip six or seven more. Later I looked on the
internet for some ideas, so eventually I tried resetting it again, as instructed. This worked for a
little bit, but then it started skipping over songs again. I reset again, and it lost....
How Do I Switch From Gnome To Kde?
Ubuntu Linux (6) Hey. I use Windows mainly, as I use games and graphical programs the most. However, I use Linux a
bit, just for programming and other things like that. I'm not that good at programming and
linux though ;_;... Well, I decided that the main reason I don't like to use it is that it
looks so alien, and I hate how GNOME looks. I hear that if I move to KDE I'll be sacrificing
some performance or whatnot. I have this really crazy linux zealot friend who preaches the linux
gospel to me, and will attempt to beat down any reason why I like Windows. I would ask ....
