| | My friend just called me, asking for a place to get drivers for Linux. I know a little about Linux, but not enough to help him out. He's using the distro ubuntu, and he needs a driver for a wireless card. The card he is using is a Dell Wireless 1350 802.11 B-GPC. I know nothing about Linux drivers, I use knoppix and everything I need is already on the CD. Can someone help me? |

Ok, a little off topic, but whats linux? i think its an operation system, like windows. I took apart a windows 95\DOS computer last night, so thats the only kind of computers im experenced in. o yea i'l look for you driver, too.

Dell seems very difficult to get working with Ubuntu. People contributing to the Wiki generally say that the wireless cards either don't connect or require extensive setup. Have a look here. In the mean time, open up Synaptic and look for packages called ndiswrapper and networkmanager and see if they help out. Sometimes just installing them can be a great help. QUOTE yea its a OS but much more complex, well not really its just less user friendly than windows. :/ I actually find Kubuntu a lot more user friendly and intuitive than any Windows OS I have come across, and I have spent years using every edition of Windows since 3.11 For Workgroups (including Bob).

Hey, I've had the same problem with linux and wireless card drivers! But if you use the latest versions of linux like myself on fedora core 6 then you shoulnd't get any problem with the wireless card, you can basically do a "yum install (card Name)" and the rest fedora would do for you, but anyways for other linux versions try searching google, theres always a way to get the drivers! Try also going to linux official forum! it works great! If you know how to compile the kernal then you can risk that and try and make each and everything work the way you want! It's a tough job and you will be risking your device! anyways thats all i can say! anything else you can lemme know!

I have been messing with ubuntu and have been able to do a few cool th (3) Hey Everyone, It is the 4th. Celebration time. While I am sitting here waiting to go to the big
city and watch the Fireworks I am messing with my WinTV and Razr V3. Man the bluetooth under Ubuntu
is awesome. I love the proximity sensor. After you get it setup you can lock and unlock your
computer automatically by walking out of or into the proximity of your computer. Of course you have
to have Ubuntu installed and a bluetooth USB or built in adapter but once you are set it is really
cool. Kind of off topic but I am messing with my WinTV HVR USB too. I will do another p....

Install a game 3 times and then you have to buy another copy (9) I can't believe how stupid EA can be. So if you buy a game and install it over 3 times, it locks
up and you have to buy another copy. This is STUPID. I've read in a forum a post by someone who
formats his hard drive every 3 months. He's never going to buy any EA game with that kind of
protection. I think it's pretty dumb too. Imagine buying the game, installing it and having it

Any linux gamers out there? (0) Hi, are there any linux players out there? I know there are a lot of unique linux games out there,
but they are too much to try them all (and my drive space is very limited). I'm currently
trying auteria, a nice mmorpg, also available for windows. I like it because it's not as
stupid (personal opinion), as most otherf MMORPG in which everything I do is killing monsters to get
better weapons and higher levels to kill more monsters. Of course you can do the same in Auteria, if
you want... but besides that it's really nice and you can do a lot of other thing....

Network Install Linux On Laptop With No Cd Drive?
(6) I was hoping some linux tech heads here could give me some pointers about installing linux onto a
laptop I have which has no cd drive. To make things worse it does not even boot from usb. I had
installed XP on it with an unattended install using the /makelocalsource switch which copies files
to the local hdd then finishes setup from there after reboot. Is there an easy switch function to
install any linux distro once you have the files on your hdd? (I have a mapped network drive to my
laptop and sharing from my desktop so i can access my files. I just don't know if....
