I'm going to have to say that Bearshare is quite amazing. And the best, if you're looking for something that uses the Gnutella network (which I like, for one). It's really fast, and it's not packaged with any really evil. Just some popups, and some bundled stuff that isn't integrated and can be removed with a good anti-spam software. It's quite cool. Plus, it's got a cute little bear as its logo. And who could resist that?

Arn't Limewire and kazaa and all of those illegal now? Or at least can't you get fined for using them? I have heard of some people that have gotten sued by music artist and their companies because of downloading music. I am just curious as before i download it i want to know everything i can about it first.

Nah, Limewire is legal for now. It's a loophole in the law. LimeWire can say that it had no intention to do anything illegal. It's kinda true actually. LimeWire didn't put the illegal music on the network; the users did. Napster got sued because it was designed especially for music sharing.

About LimeWire itself: Sure it's good, if you don't mind downloading a 130 mb program that lets you run java programs. It's faster than Kazaa, but it doesn't have an anti-virus like Kazaa does. And it does have no spyware. It's a pretty good program, and you should try it

I don't know about fines, but I've been blocked from those before - once from napster a few years ago, I could not reload it into my machine........ and more recently, from Kazaa - kazaa won't load, and when I try to reinstall it, the reinstall window just disappears. Would that be a virus or an intentional blocker?

Limewire is slow and not as good. but i get downloads from other people's sites.Check out napster, they have like a 30 day trial where you can download songs. I migh signup with that.

I use Limewire and think its great - Its not illegal yet. Its in court at the moment, but nothing has happened. There is not much REM on Limewire though

man it sounds tempting. im one of those that id hate to really take a risk and then get some law suite on me for using that program

i use limewire, and i have to say it is the fastest downloader i have ever used, and i have switched between a ton of them to, i remember when i first started out i was using kazaa i think it is....it took about 2 hours just to download one freaking song, but with lime wire free version, it took me 3 minutes...and i got the full song. you can download a full album in less that 30 minutes because no matter how many downloads you have at once it will still go super fast!! it just depends on how many sources are feeding into the download, which in most cases is around 2-3 which boosts the downloadings speed hella good
