Looking at water, you might think that it's the most simple thing around. Pure water is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. But it's not at all simple and plain and it is vital for all life on Earth. Where there is water there is life, and where water is scarce, life has to struggle or just "throw in the towel."
Pure water has a neutral pH of 7, which is neither acidic nor basic.

The water in you
Think of what you need to survive, really just survive. Food? Water? Air? MTV? Naturally, I'm going to concentrate on water here. Water is of major importance to all living things; in some organisms, up to 90 percent of their body weight comes from water. Up to 60 percent of the human body is water, the brain is composed of 70 percent water, and the lungs are nearly 90 percent water. About 83 percent of our blood is water, which helps digest our food, transport waste, and control body temperature. Each day humans must replace 2.4 litres of water, some through drinking and the rest taken by the body from the foods eaten.
There just wouldn't be any you, me, or Fido the dog without the existence of an ample liquid water supply on Earth. The unique qualities and properties of water are what make it so important and basic to life. The cells in our bodies are full of water. The excellent ability of water to dissolve so many substances allows our cells to use valuable nutrients, minerals, and chemicals in biological processes.
Water's "stickiness" (from surface tension) plays a part in our body's ability to transport these materials all through ourselves. The carbohydrates and proteins that our bodies use as food are metabolized and transported by water in the bloodstream. No less important is the ability of water to transport waste material out of our bodies.
You know although water is just water I think botteled waters taste different from each other. Like I drink Zephyrhills Spring Water and when I drink Aquafina or Dausani it tastes different like it has something else in it. Of course I like water and of course I drink it all the time. Although I think sometimes I'll drink soda all day and get dehydrated and I realize I haven't had enough water. I sort of wonder though if bottling companies put in some extra stabilizer or something that makes the water taste different.
Yes, we do need water to stay alive, but don't forget that (like most things..) too much of it is not good for you It's possible that an overdose of water will lead you into coma and then maybe to death. Normally the cells in your body maintain a concentration gradient. There's a balance of sodium and water, and breaking that balance will cause problems. When taking in too much water, there will be relatively little sodium left. Because of that, the water outside of the cell will rush into the cell, I believe. And that action will cause the cell to swell, which leads to tissue damage, your brain cells will be pressured, and the latter is very dangerous.
(The opposite is true aswell, when you take in too much sodium (salt) when you are offered peanuts in a bar for example, this will make your body need more water to maintain the balance, and so thirst will be triggered. This will result in you ordering more drinks )
* There is the same amount of water on Earth as there was when the Earth was formed. The water from your faucet could contain molecules that dinosaurs drank. * Water is composed of two elements, Hydrogen and Oxygen. 2 Hydrogen + 1 Oxygen = H2O. * Nearly 97% of the world’s water is salty or otherwise undrinkable. Another 2% is locked in ice caps and glaciers. That leaves just 1% for all of humanity’s needs — all its agricultural, residential, manufacturing, community, and personal needs. * Water regulates the Earth’s temperature. It also regulates the temperature of the human body, carries nutrients and oxygen to cells, cushions joints, protects organs and tissues, and removes wastes. * 75% of the human brain is water and 75% of a living tree is water. * A person can live about a month without food, but only about a week without water. * Water is part of a deeply interconnected system. What we pour on the ground ends up in our water, and what we spew into the sky ends up inour water. * The average total home water use for each person in the U.S. is about 50 gallons a day. * The average cost for water supplied to a home in the U.S. is about $2.00 for 1,000 gallons, which equals about 5 gallons for a penny. * Water expands by 9% when it freezes. Frozen water (ice) is lighter than water, which is why ice floats in water.
I have no particular reason to hate water. It tastes good, is refreshing, can be used to clean things... A whole myriad of uses. The only annoying thing is that the water where I live is full of chalk so sometimes tastes a bit weird and looks cloudy, but usually it's OK.

Hmm... You say that drinking water cancels the effects of eating salty foods, and vise-versa? Then that should mean that drinking mildly salty water is actually better for you that drinking pure water.
Anyway, I love water, whether it be bottled, rain, sea or chlorinated water. (Not so much chlorinated, makes my eyes sting).
there isalot more to water than you people think! it's sensual, refreshingand everything else!lying in a bath of water can calm down even the biggest tempers!
Different brands of bottled water DO taste different. I forget which one, it might be Aquafina, but I don't like it because it has this weird taste. I think mineral water is a little salty, and I don't like that.
I love water. Sometimes I would prefer to have something with more taste, but if I need something refreshing after being outside or whatever, cool water is the best =)
I love water. I drink it with most meals and through out the day. It is very important to stay hydrated since i play lots of sports and always am running. However, like others have said, not all water tastes the same. When i drink the water at school it tastes different from that in my apartment. The reason for this is that they come from different sources and one is known for having a much higher iron content than the other. Plus, some pipes are older than others so they have more deposits in them than others. Finally, i will have to say that in the past week i have had some of the best water i have ever tasted and it was not because i was near a stream or anything. Instead, i was on a cruise ship and they desalitate their own water and thus is was as pure as you can get. It tasted so good all day every day.
Healthy humans regulate daily water balance remarkably well across their lifespan despite changes in biological development and exposure to stressors or hydration status. Acute or chronic body water deficits result when intakes are reduced or losses increase, but day-to-day hydration is generally well maintained so long as food and fluid are readily available. Total water intake incluces drinking water, water in beverages, and water in food. Daily water needs determined from fluid balance, water turnover, or consumption studies provide similar values for a given set of conditions. A daily water intake of 3.7 L for adult men and 2.7 L for adult women meets the needs of the vast majority of persons. However, strenuous physical exercise and heat stress can greatly increase daily water needs, and the individual variability between athletes can be substantial. So as a human being we have to drink water
it is available in plenty all over the earth. without water there is no life on earth. from the tiniest of microbes to hugest of animals depend on water for survival.
i have heard that a man cannot live without water for more than 2 day but can survive for more than a month without food depending on his physical health. so... we should always be thankful to God for water that he has created...
i personally think and feel that water is the most tastiest liquid on earth. it is the most thirst quenching liquid also. even after drinking loads of soft drinks we feel very thirsty but once we drink water it will subside. such is the power of water. it is rightly said as the elixir of life.
pure water is free from all forms of chemicals. but nowadays is very rare to find such pure water.
packaged drinking water come with mild taste increasing ingredients. such water is also very tasty to drink.
Before I move on, i would like to clear the mis-understanding of the terms, "pure water" and "mineral water".
Pure Water: Pure water is basically made up of Hydrogen and Oxygen into H2O compound and is without minerals. When taken in small amount, it is detrimental to body (organs, etc) as it asorbs minerals in your body. It is used mainly on cleaning machines like medicinal factories.
Mineral Water: Mineral water consists of Hydrogen and Oxygen, however, this compound is mixed with minerals like calcium, sodium, and sometimes, chlorine. Those minerals i have mentioned come in different volumes and other minerals of substances may be added. Different brands supplying mineral water have different amount of this minerals and they use different substances at times.
Cleared, so now let's move onto the discussion. We are on the right track! When i had drink water?
I would drink normally at times when my mum starts saying: "If you don't drink water, you will be dehydrated, and then die a painful death. You want that, son?" After that speech she'd give occasionally, i would then gobble the water down from a 500ml mineral water bottle. I don't drink tap water though in Singapore, we can drink without boiling, as it's quite unhygienic, who knows what goes wrong in the pipes? (Rusty metal? It hurts...) As well as boiled water, it sucks, ants float dead in the kettle when it's filled brim full. (-Utterly unhygienic, makes me feel like puking)
Rusty rusty... I drink blood when i feel dehydrated? Seems to have abit substances which boost metabollic rate too lol. Blood smells like rusty metal though. Try that..
Well thank you people for this amazing insight into the uses of a crazy new substance that i had no idea existed, maybe i should try cleaning my teddy bear...
Dudes/Dudettes i honestly cannot see the point of argueing about water... we have lived with it for god knows how many years so yeah.... i am over it so i am going to hug my teddy.
Recently I found that, there is a wrong concept to many people that drinking cold water can reduce
weight. They sowed me few interesting thermodynamics prove (actually they were wrong). They showed
that if some one drinks cold water, it will be increase its temperature inside our body. In another
word, it will burn few calories to increase its temperature. In this way, some one can burn their
calories and can loose their weight. They also showed me if I drink 1000g (around 1 L) water
having temperature 5 deg. C and it increase its temperature 25 deg C (to reach our b....

I personaly think that all cars should switch to water power provided they find a way to convert
water into a efficient fuel source. i mean just think about it if we had cars that ran off of water
we could just pull up to a lake or ocean and fill up till the next stop. but most likely on the down
side the government would probably raise the price of water and put a huge tax on it. water would
also be taken off the store shelves and we would have to go to a water station which would most
likely bring us back to the same situation we are in now but not nearly as bad. but y....
