[SIZE=1] to those who don't currently know, Mambo has ceised development, and in its place is the re-branded Joomla!. Its just had its first V1.0 release (yes v1.0) Anyways, jsut go round the site and have a looka round and see what it has to offer if you've used Mambo before, then it looks pretty much the same, but has lots of new fixes etc, but is easily upgraded, just consult the online help section.
i'm personally going to downlaod it and have a tinker with it and try get the hang of it. |

Mambo is really a good CMS. With a lot of features inbuilt and with so much plugins the mambo is certainly the best and easiest CMS. Mambo devepment team is facing some problems, But it is not dead yet. Visit http://mamboserver.com/ for news updates. In recent Google coding challenge Mambo was chosen as a target product by google among other great opensource projects. Joomla [ http://www.joomla.org/ ] looks somewhat similar to Mambo.

I don't know that Mambo is being replaced - it's still going to be continuing under the control of Miro, but Joomla is a new project created by the Mambo development team.

QUOTE(Goosestaf @ Sep 25 2005, 02:10 PM) Joomla is bassicly the latest version of mambo. as far as i know, there won't be anymore mambo releases. Joomla is built on top of mambo. Whatever is said here has so far some misinformation on mambo and joomla. mambo was an open source content management which was under miro pty ltd untill recently when mambo foundation was founded to protect mambo. However, the original mambo developers who had allowed mambo to scale such height that it even won the best cms till date accused mambo foundation of trying to commercialize what the developers want ed it to remain as an open source. Therefore, those mambo original developers left mambo and formed a new fork which is called joomla. Thus joomla version 1.0.0 is the same as mambo version 4.5.2.3 till this release both are the same. However, mambo called in new developers which released mambo version 4.5.3 which is really big in zip file as well and with lots of bugs. While Joomla also release Version 1.0.1 with lots of improvement over the previous version. From these two releases mambo and joomla will go a very different path.. mambo is definitely not dead.. but developers have changed since most of the developers have left them and started a new cms called joomla...

Hey guys, I haven't used Joomla before and was wondering how easy it is to customize. Is there
a way to re-code customizable php features into a Joomla page? I was just wondering how flexible
it is and if it is a good tool for someone who already knows how to make a webpage(php) from scratch
by text editors. Is it just software for people who want to make web pages but can't code?
Please hit me back with your thoughts, Cheers....

Can someone, knowledgeable on Joomla! pleeeease help me asap! I uploaded Joomla and went
through the install. Three red flags showed up, two of which I ignored because they come up on just
about every site I do and don't affect the end product in any way but one of which was Safe
Mode: ON. Even so I don't think that this is causing the problem. I continued with the
installation and all seemed successful until I tried to view the site which was missing all images

Hi Guys, I'm helping a guy re-design his site who currently has a version of mambo installed.
What i want to do is make a copy so that i can fiddle around with the layout without stuffing up the
site. I also want to upgrade it to joomla but thats not as much of a priority. Any ideas on how i
do this? My idea was to just copy the files installed in the mambo dir into a new folder. Will this

Cms Made Simple
- A weird experience for this Mambo user (10)
I came across yet another CMS called CMS Made Simple (I'll just call it CMSMS from here on). Of
course, it is free and open source, and it is very compact (its latest stable distribution is 1.89
MB zipped, Mambo's is a lot larger, like 8 or more MB proably). Any page loads quickly, and are
clutter free. Part of CMSMS's features are its templating system, which works pretty
differently. In Mambo, there are the index.php template, and its accompanying template_css.css
files. In CMSMS, there's the template (stored in the DB as far as I know), and a whole bun...
