I was wondering if there is a job in game production where you create a new idea for a fresh game and the game company will buy your idea. I have been asking everywhere and have not find the right answer. Hope you people can help me to find one. Thank you.

I know that sierra was recently advertising programming posts for kings quest 9. In fact, my one friend applied and got accepted and he's all the way in South Africa. Your best bet would be to contact a university where game development is an actual study path. I know a few univeristies here in Australia offer that and they would definately be able to give you details of a recruitment agency for game development.

hansley: That kind of 'job' exist but the problem is there are way too many of people with fresh ideas.People have all kinds of ideas but the problem is they (all) can't be done, due to finance problems or lack of skilled developers.

Now if you have an idea for a game and you want to present it you must know how to make games and when I say make I mean, plan, model, design, code...

What should you do?
1.First you must know what kind of games people like to play nowdays.To do that, I suggest you make a survey and ask some thousand people what kinds of new game they would like to play.

2.Game story.You have to design a good interesting game story with many options for user to chose with.An option where there is only one way to finish the game is bad.

3.Design a game.Make a preparation like you do when you code programs.

4.Code it.You don't have to make a complete game, but a demo should be fine.If you don't have all the skills like modeling, coding, art, music, ask your friends to help you out.

5.When the game is finished, wrap it up and send it to the company you want.Make sure you include all instructions, game story and your description of the game (what you like in it, what's new in it, ...) Tell them you made a survey and present them your plans.If you are a programmer, send them your rezime.

That's pretty much everything.Good luck!

That sort of job does exist, but i've never seen freelancers. I know inside companies groups of people are hired to come up with ideas and story lines and complete an entire presentation from GUI to basic formulas that run the game. It doesn't have to complete but enough so it functions like a game.

pikaz is correct. Too many people will have fresh ideas for your one idea to be purchased by a game developer. If the company wanted an idea for a game they'd simply distribute some sort of online or other type of survey to the public for a significantly lower cost. This way they get a handful of fresh ideas PLUS an idea of what people are generally looking for in terms of gaming innovations.

Companies DO hire people for logistics. Usually a game developer will create a small to medium-sized focus group that will brainstorm for days to sometimes years writing miscellaneous code, testing ideas, sampling the public with surveys, etc. However, these focus groups usually contain people who are experienced in some way such as programming or modelling. This way, the ideas presented are usually feasible and the group as a colelctive has a general idea of what will be possible and what will not - both in terms of bringing the game to a functional point and/or based on what kind of resources the company has.

Your best bet for what you want to do is simple: make yourself useful by learning SOMETHING and being CREATIVE.

I don't know if what you are hoping for is some big company willing to take your idea and use it or more like what I am offering. I would like to develop a game but I am in need of a game concept. I have time, skills, resources and energy to do what it takes to develop a playable game but I don't have the idea of what to make. I am willing to look at any genre, theme or design. I don't know what kind of distribution may be appropriate, we can explore that once we have an idea of what we are creating. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

In my opinions, game companies are using another way to gather ideas.

They, of course, have their own team that taking care about this idea matter, but when they need ideas from outside, they will put something like contest. Gather all ideas from the contestant and the best one will get the prize.
