Woohoo. I watched the game early this morning (6am local time) and it was a goodie. Probably the best game played in the world cup so far. The first 90 minutes went by, still no goals scored. Lehmen( German goalie) made some terrific saves and kept his team well in it. The Italian goalie also made some good saves, respect to an Italian defender (his name sounds like demovarra, the type of coffee sugar) if it werent for him the Italians would have been 3 goals down.
Anyway the 90mins went by, then the first extra time. About 7 mins from the end of the second extra time Italy scored!!!! It was a great set up.
3 man attack. 4 men defence + goalie
The Italian attackers were lined up in a diagonal from the outside box left corner to the inside box right corner. They passed it, beating the 4 defenders. Totti (italian striker) struck it, it curved pass lehman (german goalie) and straight into the goal!!!!!!
So the Germans went on all out attack, they got close to scoring. The Italians got hold of the ball, AND SCORED ANOTHER !!!!
Excellent defence by both teams and both were very close to scoring alot of times.
I cant wait for the Portugal France match
Notice from mayank:
Please note that the topic description has to be descriptive, next fault will lead to warning
that was really unexcpected.. i thought germany was going to win it all because they were playing so well throughout the whole tournament except this game, their offense waas just not getting it done. Their defense played well until that last minute of the game. Both teams played awesome defense..but i hated to see germany go . But it was a good goal from italy, the first one... very nice shot. Im hoping France wins it all now. i didn't really think the italian team would make it this far on how they palyed in the group, but they have stepped it up. Playing like Champs now. can't wait to see the finals!
It indeed was a good match, fast paced and fun to watch, but ever since the beginning the Germans were the loosing team, they got surprised by Italy's aggresiveness in the beginning and although they had their strong moments, throughout the whole match the Italian players moved a lot more across the field, by keeping the fast pace up they drained the German players, who usually save their breath for the last 15 to 20 minutes. When Italy started into the overtime with an additonal striker, I knew they would win, the germans were pretty much unable to do anything in overtime, beaten by their own tactics. Persoanlly I think that the Germans gave up control of this game to easily and the italians were the better team, on the other hand if Germany would've held out a few more minutes for penalty kicks they would've won, luckily I didn't happen hehe
Germany were never going to win that match or the world cup unless it went to pens. Italy really could win the thing now. good to see what looks like americans comments though.
It was a really good game but i thought it was quite cruel that italy took it like that in the dying seconds of the game. I would have also loved to have seen a pently shoot out that could have been really interesting to watch. Yeah i thought germany were going to take it in the end like italy did as they have done that with a few games already but it was a good game to watch hopefully the portugal france game is just as good tp watch but i do hope portugal wins tho.
Italy well deserved the 2-0 win against Germany. In fact, Germany was not a good team except that they enjoy the home crowd and as such they deserve to bow out like South Korea who as a host four years ago enjoyed the same luck and bowed out finally at the semi-finals. To be in the grand finals will only be fair for those who play really well and consistently. And I don't think Germany will come close to that.
One thing we should remind ourselves is that Italy has so far conceded only one goal from the start of the world cup which is an amazing record. And that goal too was unfortunately their own goal. Except that there is no ball reaching beyond the goal keeper.
Also, they hit goal post twice within 90 minutes. Germany also got enough opportunity but they wasted like England did when they faced Portugal. So, Italy deserves every bit of their win against Germany.
I saw parts of the match, and from what I can see, Italy really could win the whole thing now. This is despite the controversial Final 16 match against the Aussies. The handful of true Australian soccer fanatics down (i dunno about the many bandwagon jumpers) here are muttering what could have been.

Hey every soccer lovers ! I see a lot of topics on soccer, but in your opinion, what is the

There are English premier league, Spanish league, Italian league, German League and they are most
popular. Which soccer league are you interested most? For me, I like English League as they play
fast football and beautiful to watch. But I also like real madrid and barcelona as well....
I'd Like an International Outfit mostly with German players. I prefer a fighting team rather
than one that is star-studded. FORMATION: 4-1-2-1-2 Goal Keeper - TIMO HILDEBRAND, Vfb Stuttgart
Very Consistent player. Should be Germany No. 1 by now. OLi isn't as fast he used to be. Jens
is mediocre if you ask me. Left Back - PHILLIP LAHM, Vfb Stuttgart Attacking minded, pacey Winger.
Center Back - JOHN TERRY, Chelsea Good positional Sense, good in the air and in set pieces.
Center Back - JENS NOWOTNY, Bayer 04 Leverkusen Top Rated European Defender, Can t...
Lol i went out for soccer for like my 5th year but once every one gets into junior high they dont go
out for soccer thats weird (im in junior high) So this year we only had 13 people go out so we
were only going to ave 3v3 soccer games lol but now we aren't going to even have soccer this
year because we dont have enough players and plus we didn't even get any coaches yet so they
just cancel soccer. Lol we usuallly have like 40 kids go out for soccer....
Last saturday I was playing soccer with my mates for our club and some *bottom* put his foot in my
calf while I was trying to cross the ball from left field. Anyway the referee did not see it as a
foul and called half time as the ball went out after it bounced off him. At that stage I was just in
pain and laying on the ground. Everyone went to the middle and huddled up and I get a call from my
coach/manager to walk it in so I get up and start limping to the group. At this stage I'm just
glad my leg isn't broken like you see on those video clips of people, that k...
I think that soccer in europe is the most wonderful and beautiful than in any other continent. My
favourite team is MILAN. I'm sure it will beat Manchester United for the Champions League
semi-final. What is ur favourite soccer team?...
Do you play soccer?? If you do, where? and for what team? I'd like to hear from the soccer
players of trap 17. I love the sport of soccer. I play soccer 11 months outta the year. I play on
a team named Westound FC(formally known as FC kitsap) here in WA. We are a Premier 1 soccer team,
which is the best of the best in the state of WA. We are ranked #4 in WA. I have been playing soccer
for 11yrs now, and i am only 15. My favorite position is goalie. I like to jump around batting at
things. So yeah, that's about it. Tell me what you think. /smile.gif" style="ve...
I've been playing soccer for about 9 years now and ive mainly been defense. Im a fast runner but
dont have a great amount of endurance. I currently have a broken left collarbone, so i cant play in
any serious games. A few nights ago i was playing 3 on 1 (diamond or man in the middle) and i was
megging people, and everyone was saying i had amazing ball control(not to flatter myself). This
really got me thinking about the soccer league im going to be joining in the spring. I would really
like to move up to mid-feild or a further up position then defense. Starting in no...
Any followers of the 2006 FIFA World Cup here? I am going for Australia (which is one of the lowest
ranked sides in the World Cup) but their rank doesn't mean much as they scored a tie with
ranked 3rd in the world, Holland and defeated European Champions, Greece recently. Our first match
is against Japan, the other teams in our group are Croatia and Brazil. I don't usually follow
football/soccer since it isn't that popular in Australia, but when it comes to international
soccer/football I am all for it. So what team are you backing? ...
Well i got up at 6am (local time) to watch it and boy o boy was it a good match. France scored first
in about the 12th minute (I think). Italy replied with a goal in the 19th minute. It was a good
game, lots of close calls and some great goal keeping. The game went into extra time, still tied at
1-1, extra time passed, still 1-1 So there was a penalty shoot out. Both teams got their first 2
goals easily but then France missed! That was the only miss, italy ended up winning the shoot
out 5-4 . Congradumalations Italy!...
Yeah thats rigth, who will be the campion and how? I think Italy will be THE CHAMPION in Extra Time
because they have a good team but france too. But have a good point, Italy Eliminated Germany!
The host Nation!!! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0"

Top Welsh Referee Nigel Whitehouse has called for Soccer to adopt some of rugbys own refereeing
tactics, including a sin bin and a video referee. Whitehouse told the western mail that "In
football there is so much abuse of referees by the players. Referees are under immense pressure as
it is, but the way players surround and intimidate them is ridiculous." He later said that he
"would be in favour of some sort of sin-binning being introduced, whether it was for five or 10
minutes" and also that he belives "If a player knew he was going to be sin-binned for certain off...
Tonight in Belgrade, 21.00h, match between Serbia&Montenegro and Spain (qualifications for WC
Germany 2006). I am S&M fan, so I exept my team to WIN What U think?...
Hi WoW!!! This is a big stunner. A referee of the bundsliga has been fixing games in
order to let high bidders win and get some money himself. It all came to light when a game between
hamburg and another team which I forgot was tied at 2-2 and that other team got two penalty kicks
awarded that were nonexistant. Also a Hamburg player was sent off. The referee has admited to
everything and is cooperating. Heads are gonna roll. Germany didn't need that before to host the
next world cup. One crooked referee is going to ternish the german soccer federation r...
