| | You might consider Webroot's Window Washer. It works with IE and AOL. Once you get off the net it clears out all your internet activity, e.g. sites visited, temporary files, etc... then when it completes it's 'wash' you just click to 'minimize' it so that it remains as an active program.
This will prevent someone else using your computer to find out what site's you visited..
You may want to visit; www.webroot.com they have an array of products, and like anything else everyone has their own opinion as to what works for them.
I have Windows Washer Ver. 5.0, I believe that there is a newer version out there now. It's about a $30-35 program. If purchased be sure it's the newer version (beyond Ver. 5.0), it's hard to tell just looking at the container orrr only real way... low level format, then overwrite the drive about a dozen times with randomized data. given enough time, the big guys with the cash could still probably pull data off a drive like that good luck |

QUOTE(c3nar1us @ Jun 2 2005, 07:20 PM) This will prevent someone else using your computer to find out what site's you visited. About the only time that would be important is on a public computer (unless you share a computer with other people and you don't want them finding out the sort of stuff you surf which sounds a bit shifty to me) and you're not likely to be able to install software on a public computer.

I don't see the point of these programs. If your doing legitimate stuff you have nothing to hide. And why install this needless software when you can do it the old fashioned way. IE ---> Tools ----> Internet Options ------> Delete Cookies, Clear History, Delete Files FireFox ----> Tools -----> Options -------> Clear All How hard could this be, only takes two to three steps.

I agree with Yipster that if you have done nothing illegitimate or illegal then you have no reason to go into 'deep cleaning' of your PC. The only reason you would need to do that is if you were selling the system and needed the drive clear, but generally you would just format it. I cannot see a point if everything you do is above board. I only use the old fashioned way, and that is just to save space.

I think some people might want to use such programs for security reason, example if people shop or type in personal information on the net. They might want to get rid off this information after they are off the net just incase some one trys and gets hold of the information through the computer.

QUOTE(c3nar1us @ Jun 2 2005, 04:20 AM) This will prevent someone else using your computer to find out what site's you visited.. If you use Windows, and press Ctrl and H at the same time, it shows your history of all the web pages you have visited in a specified time. You can delete them as well, which hides where you have gone on the Internet. If you are using a companys computer, their router will record where you go most likely, so there's no hiding your history.

Broadband In Gas
- Carrying internet over gas pipelines (5)
I recently read about a company called Nethercomm that is promoting a broadband in gas technology.
Apparently, this company has some patents pending on devices that can be installed in gas pipelines
that go to commercial and residential buildings to provide the "last mile" connection for broadband.
It appears the technology is based on radio frequencies propogated down the gas pipe as a wave
guide. Nethercomm boasts data rates up to 40 Mbps are possible to the home. Anyone know of any
actual implementation/trials of this technology going on presently?...

satellites connections (phones) had a large delay due to the range of transmission. Would anyone

Rich Internet Application - Who Is Going To Win The Race?

Last couple of months we can see the competition between 3 major Companies Adobe, Sun and Microsoft.
Everyone wants to win the race. They introduced 3 products to develop RIA (Rich Internet

they have released Flex 3.0 beta. Flex SDK is open source and Blaze Data Services (part of Flex
needed for Server side Programming) is open source. but Flex IDE and LifeCycle (Super Set of

Microsoft Confirmed IE7 Compatible with XP and newer
- Internet Explorer 7 only for XP (26)
Micrsoft confirmed what we've already expected. The new-coming explorer IE 7 will only be
compatible with windows XP and newer. The two reasons why old dinosaurs that still use Windows 2000
and lower won't be able to use the new IE are: 1. state in which is the extended support of
Windows 2000 and 2. mostly of technical nature (IE 7 is goin to have a few security updates and
imporvements, which bases on the functionality of the new XP SP2 and this is the reason for its
incompatibility with other versions of Windows) Source: Slashdot ...
Voip(voice Over Internet Protocol)
- real money saver (16)
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is the communication technology of the future for sure. Legacy
technology carries voice signals over analog circuits and lines. Voice over IP converts the analog
signal to digital and transports the signal to the receiver where it is converted back from digital
to analog and the receiver hears the sender's voice. This provides a more efficient and
economical means of communication. I have know VOIP for quite a some time since i started online.
Most of the time i use msn messeger or yahoo messeger to chat with my friends. Recently,...

Skype Rule

This has been available for a while, but I only recently. This is a Voice over IP program that
allows you to talk to anyone on the internet anywhere provided they have the same program. The
software is free. The real amazing thing is the new feature you can now have real phone number. That
means someone can call you from a normal landline and you can call other landline numbers. They have
also just added the live video software also for free, so if you have a web cam you can see the
other person. I know, I know it is not all that new, but this is the first software that ...

I was wondering if anybody had any experience with internet telephony or voIP. I've tried Skype

when you take your phone outside your home it uses the Vodafone network, and when you use it at home
it automatically uses voIP over bradband. Sounds interesting......
Internet Explorer.... With Tabs!

Yes, it’s finally true. Stuck on like a big band aid, courtesy of MSN Toolbar 1.2, we have IE with
tabs. Well ahead of the release of Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft has done what they just absolutely
needed to do, and have provided tabbed browsing for Internet Explorer. Things are fairly undeveloped
at this stage, but reports talk about it running fast and supporting most features you'd want.
