Dude, get Ad-Aware and SpyBot S&D. Ad-Aware gets rid of Adware and SpyBot S&D gets rid of Spyware. Also get McAfee VirusScan 8.0i. It works good but it also can detect Adware and Spyware but not every good as Ad-Adware and SpyBot S&D can do. These tools should do good for you. Ad-Aware is free and so is SpyBot S&D.

if you are using microsoft windows xp, turn the built-in firewall on ... and get some additional firewall like zone alarm or sygate personal firewall .. then install spypot Search and Destroy and an antivirus program .. and i think this is enough for blocking spyware and virus

1. Free Spyware/Adware removal tools: a. Ad-Aware SE Personal b. CWShredder c. HijackThis d. Microsoft AntiSpyware e. Spybot - Search & Destroy f. SpywareBlaster2. Not free but very good: a. NoAdware b. XoftSpySearch the web and you will find the Microsoft AntiSpyware on Microsoft's site, the link is not allowing me to make it clickable.

Microsoft also has a spyware software in development (beta), but it works very well. If you're running Windows XP, feel free to download and try it. It detest a lot of the things ad-aware won't find I heard. Here's the link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

If you are willing to pay some money use MacAfee for anti-virus and download Zone Alarm Pro for free (there is a paid version and a free version I assume the free one is just as good).

I think I'll give SpyBot a try. I downloaded AVG a long time ago, and to this day I still wish that I hadn't. Anyway, thanks for the links/tips. I hope I can get the PC up to speed. Otherwise, I may have to back up my files and re-install everything.
