First off, to all the females on Trap 17, Happy Women's Day March 8th is the global celebration day, and celebrates social, economic, and political achievements of women, arround the world... Initially, this was a political event, but in most countries, it has integrated, and became part of the culture... Most notably, in former communist countries, like Russia, or my own country, formerly governed by communist party, it has become, as it says on Wikipedia, "a mix of Western Mother's Day, and St. Valentine's Day"... I think people should remember the true mening of this celebration, and that it was not something that was given to women, they actually fought for that, and in the end, they were victorious... This article here, on Wikipedia tells this story, behind the International Women's Day... Again, to all the girls here, happy Women's Day!

No offence but does that mean we can have a internatinal mens day too. Probably not. They fought for equal right and rightly so, they should be held as equal, but there achievements are seen every day as women are alowed to vote and such other things. Just seems to make me laugh that if we had or wanted an internatinal mens day there would be women going mad all over the world. Eg. (although a bit different) In the Uk companies have started offering insurance for cars for women only. Can you imagine how quick i would be in court if i started a company offering the exact same service but for men only. I leave it at that.

QUOTE No offence but does that mean we can have a internatinal mens day too. Probably not. Men, are given the power from the time they were given birth. Most presidents, people who has a high revenue job, are men, few are women. So when you look to the past and compare it with the presence, you can clearely find that women made a whole big achievement. So men can't have a men's day, because they were born on the throne, while women fought for it, and still they are not considered as powerful as men by some men. They earn and deserve to have such a day. Plus men, don't get hurt when they give birth. While women's do, and what my mother told me, that the pain she felt, cannot be compared to any pain caused by anything in the world, phisycally I mean. Happy women's day, make men proud of you!!

To me this is just another day that takes up room in the calendar. It has no real significance and nothing happens because of it. Maybe we should have an International Men's Day; then we, too, could bore everyone with our achievements. Did you know that historians are 50% sure that the person who invented the pencil was a man? Amazing! Just think our holiday could be up there with World Television Day, World Vegan Day and all those other fantastic days I look forward too. Sorry for the sarcasm but in the greater scheme of things, it is pretty pointless. Anyway, if anyone is celebrating it, EnJoy!

Good job women of the world. You have fought hard for rights then men have had for years, and finally you are at a stage when finally women or getting some what the rights men have, not all the rights but your getting there. Three cheers for wome.

It's kind of like world book day. Nobody notices it, and even fewer people care. Yet there was a bookshop in an obscure London borough that banned all men for the day. This, of course, is completely illegal and men's rights groups complained about it; but did anything happen...no. Imagien if women were banned for a day. All it would take is Doris making a disgruntled comment to the neighbour and the library staff would be locked up alright. Women say that they campaigned and fought for equal rights. Yeah right, in the same way that I fought in the First World War. I am a man. Men fought in the First World War. I, however, didn't and so, rightly, I do not get glorified for it - people don't come up to me and congratulate me on winning the war. Women won the vote in the early 1900's, no woman alive today fought for the vote; so ddon't glorify them for it and treat them like they have been oppressed. They haven't. have a celebration of what women have achieved by all means, but maybe now we are seeign the tyranny of women emerge?

For me this has no real meaning. Women here usually celebrate this day going to restaurants in groups and things like this. So I guess that in the end it´s like Mother's or Father's Day or even Christmas. Some business get a benefit from it, stores or restaurants, whatever. So, for most people it's alright, but they don't care about ideals that it's supposed to represent. With this I'm not saying that women don't work as hard and well as men, of course they do. But I think it´s pointless to celebrate it. With things like these for me they're saying "although we are women, we work" and this "although" means that some of them still don't see themselves as valuable as men. And that's wrong. I think that the big fights are over and now feminism should work in normalizing women situation as workers and not emphasizing the differences with days like this. The only fight should be workers together struggling for their collective rights.

It's nice that there is a "Women's Day", however, I think some people go a little bit too far with women's rights. I agree with a few of the other posters. Women are getting more and more rights every day and this is good, but you see Hilary Clinton becoming president and most of her votes will be for her just because she is a woman, not for her talents and such. I respect this event, but will not go out of my way for anyone to congratulate them or anything on it. That library happening is totally wrong, no matter how you look at it, and I think it's also wrong that no one would do anything about it. I mean, women's rights actvists are always winning wars and such, but do you ever hear of men's rights activists winning? No, of course not, that would be "wrong" because women are "mistreated" even though they use certain things against men because of their gender, it's really messed up and unfair and I hope it changes soon. Now, don't get me wrong, I DO believe that ALL people SHOULD be treated equally. But it's not like there is a "men only" day at libraries, women should fight for something fair for both sides instead of creating more chaos. Like, for instance, fighting for the right to become leaders in today's society and business. A "women only day" is incorrect because BOTH men and women go to that library, not just men. I don't mean to come off harsh or such, I really am on both sides, but still, those are my thoughts on the matter.

I have to say equal treatment applies, regardless of race, gender or preference. None of that comes to criteria when either at interviews, public places or so forth. For example, "women only at librarys" or "men only pubs" (rare) etc, may be around, but all people should still be treated as they want to be treated. Not activists, etc making more chaos and divisions.

I think that, because we're all born equal regardless of gender, race, etc., the best thing to do is to be equal every day of our lives. Do we really need a sham holiday to feel equal? I hope not, considering that we women types don't have nearly as much to gripe about as our mothers, and their mothers, did. I mean, really. We Western women get to do pretty much whatever we want. We can be stay-at-home mothers, brain surgeons, librarians, plumbers...whatever, really. We could even have a woman in the White House at some point in the near future. (Whether that last one is good or bad depends on the candidate, not on the gender, by the way.) I for one celebrate womanhood every day. Even the really cruddy days of the month. I don't need some made-up holiday to tell me that it rocks to be a girl. If anything, "women's holidays" should remind those of us in the Western world that we got the long end of the stick. Considering that there are still honor killings in some parts of the world (as in: a female is raped and her male family members kill her because she's impure and an insult to her family), I would say that we have it pretty good.

While I appreciate the sentiment behind those who innocently buy into hoaxes like, "International Women's Day," the truth is, we live in a man's world, and it's all about money. One really needs to ask, who is really promoting this absurd holiday? Just as the so called "women's lib movement" of the 60's was brought about by an elite few to tear down the family, I suspect the motives of those behind this latest charade are just as suspect. It is actually something the corrupt United Nations has had a strong hand in. That alone should raise the eyebrows of any thinking person.

That London library who refused to serve men for the day made a immoral decision. That's sexism, which is one of the things that IWD aims to do away with. QUOTE(God-of-Earth) In the Uk companies have started offering insurance for cars for women only If a man phoned up a company like Diamond or Shiela's Wheels or whatever and asked to have their car insurance with them, legally they couldn't deny you. Take an example like diamond.co.uk. It says: QUOTE Diamond specialises in cheap car insurance for women It looks like a holiday for the LEDCs more than anything ... Cuba, Ukraine and the like; so I have no idea why it spread, in part, to London.

Halloween Is Local Not International Celeberation

to play a trick on the owner if a treat is not produce. While this allows children ....
