QUOTE(Florisjuh @ May 24 2006, 01:33 AM) Lol that's really nice, using an ipod as a Personal Digital Assistant... However, I don't think this is 100 percent legal, I mean, those machines aren't made to run another Operating System than the manufacterer installed on it..
Its like putting Linux on a windows pc. Its not illegal, its just... expanding your possibilities . I don't think this is what they intended their use of an ipod for, but its definately not wrong. If something goes wrong or you don't like it, restore your ipod and you can be happy with the OK apple firmware.

looks interesting guys... i personally dont have an iPod but i would like to have one now hehe, now what i see is that the project is supporting officially just the first generations, that's good i mean the team core achieved to hack the iPod but where could i find an iPod from the first generations at these times? The iPod nano is not fully supported according to what i read but it is supported?!? something wierd i have to admit, in the supported nano list, later versions are marked as not supported but many users have installed the package and say iPod nano can handle it. In my opinion they should provide support for later versions since it seems a very good option for buying an iPod these days. Playing video, games and what else i think personal developed applications can be injected into the iPod is better than just playing music, i want my "pocket pc" hehehe in a smaller way and not just another mp3 player. Games he? yep that rocks! doesn't matter if it is doom, pac-mac, tetris or asteroids?!? as soons as the game be adictive, any way i'll try to see what else is behind the scenes and decide myself to buy or not an iPod

iPodLinux will run on all versions of iPods. I've put it on my 5th gen and my Nano. I've also read that the 3rd Gen has a secret line out recording built in thats only avalible throught iPL. Games are fun, but kill the battery very quickly.

I just tried it and my iPod is now broken.. There was an error in the middle of the extraction, and now my iPod isn't being recognised by my computer. None of the commands you listed are working, either. I'm going to wait and see what happens once the battery dies, and then update this post later.

Did the install go through? Can you boot into disk mode? This is the firsrt time I have heard this, and I am bent on fixxing it. Just try and boot into disk mode. Once your in disk mode your computer will recognize it. If your not in disk mode, it won't. Try over and over until you see the godly disk mode screen. I had a problem and it turned out I was just not hitting the right keys. This was when I first tried it. If you want more help, you can IM me on AIM, sn; nokiill nobeep

I've tried all of the commands and all that. I'm troubleshooting in the iPodLinux forums now. If you want to read the topic that I made go here: http://ipodlinux.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=101494I hope I can get it fixed, but if not, oh well. My CD player is getting a little dusty anyway.

[linux] How To Manually Install Flock System Wide
(0) Since i am currently in the process of making my own Ubuntu-based distro and will be including Flock
as one of the browsers to choose from, i figured i'd make a tutorial out of how to install Flock
manually, since there appears to be no package for it in Ubuntu's repository and many other
popular distros, and it is said that only Ultima Linux has Flock available. For those that
don't know what Flock is, rather than going into deep detail here, i'll just provide a link
to the browser's site: http://www.flock.com/ And yes, to start, you're going....

Installing Software Using Adept
(0) I'm hoping this will be the first of a few Linux tutorials I write. I have been asked by a few
people recently about how to get software for Linux. They are used to going down to PC World and
picking up a CD, putting that in the PC and installing. With Linux that is not how new software is
obtained, and this is my attempt to explain how to get new software onto your Linux machine. I use
KDE, so this is based around Adept, but it is fairly similar if you use Synaptic or something else.
OK, open up Adept. There are a variety of ways to do that, but the easiest is to ....

Installing Mediawiki
(6) So you want to have your own Wiki, huh? It is not difficult and it will not require a lot
of effort. What you need: A web server (Preferably Apache, also runs on IIS and lighttpd)
PHP plugin for Apache. MySQL or PostGreSQL(However, MySQL is HIGHLY recommended!). You
can't install version 1.8.2 here on Trap17 as you need PHP version 5.0 or later, and in T17 you
have PHP version 4.4.4! However, you can install it here with version 1.6.8! On a side
note, MediaWiki is the Wiki software used by Wikipedia, Uncyclopedia and others. Let....
Watch Your Dvds On Your Ipod, Psp, Or Even Your Mobile Phone!
(19) You can watch a DVD on an iPod Video, PSP, or even your mobile phone! If you use a PSP you need
to place the video on your memory stick (or Hard Drive if your lucky enough to have one). To place
the videos on your iPod simply import them into iTunes or use an alternative software such as Anapod
Explorer. This tutorial uses CloneDVD Mobile, although you can also use Nero Digital to convert
DVDs to MP4. First, you need to decrypt the DVD. I recommend AnyDVD (http://www.slysoft.com) for
this. It has a fully functional 21-day trial that will suit perfectly for this tut....

Installing Multiple Os On Your Pc
How to do that (0) Hi everyone, Ok before I start, I want to let you guys know the meanings of some of the
terminologies I will be using in here. Boot loader is a small program which the operating system
places on the selected partition (in most cases, the MBR ). it is a small program that loads the
operating system into the computer’s memory when the system is booted and also starts the
operating system. So, before you can think of configuring your PC to have multiple boot, you should
also know how to play around with 'em boot loaders too. And you should also make sure that y....

Tutorial: Installing D-shoutbox For Ipb V1.2
Making your installation even easier (12) Over the course of the summer I have tried hard to install a shoutbox into a new forum I was

unsuccessful. Eventually, after much frustration, and trying other mods, which didn't seem to
stack up to Dean's features, I was determined to make it work. For some, editing your files (to
the newbie that is) can be difficult, with everything looking like a foreign language (basi....
