How Much Do You Sleep And When?A regular night sleep of eight hours a day is important for proper body functioning. Body and mind relaxes during sleep, and so the most used muscle of our body too. Guess which is it?Nopes, you are wrong. Its not heart, but eyes. Guys who thought the right answer should pat themselves. A gland called ' pinial body' (I hope i spelt well, anyways ) secretes two very impostant proteins. named ' per' and ' tim'. 'per' represents for period and 'tim' for time. The concentration of one protein riser and other falls within the pinial body cells in a harmonic fashion. i.e. the exact time when the concentration of both will be equal is 12 hours. This is the basis of body clock. Our body clock decides when should we fall asleep and when to wakeup. It is also harmonized with sunrise and sunset in healthy individuals. When we fall asleep, body hormones levels become different than the active body. Sometimes, in the condition of stress or related, this clock gets disturbed, giving the condition of insomnia. Sometimes we wakeup late night to finish some assignments of during exams. Few days or weeks doesn't affect much. But a regular habit of getting late to bed permanently alters ' per-tim cycle'. So we cant sleep till late night even if we want to. This totally disturbs hormone balance and give rise to a situation of depression, anxiety and various misconcequences. We no longer concentrate on work, and socially we start isolating ourself. This may be a cause of social distraction, break-ups in relations and in short, a devastating situation. I wanted to attach a pole to this post to know, what is your sleeping habits? To, just lets see what percentage of bloggers and forum posters have regular and healthy sleeping habits. Somehow I messed with it and posted the topic without the poll. Anyways, this may be a consequence of my staying awake till late night. Now do post your replies against the post. Please be honest in poll, if you think of getting a good and valuable survey results (which I 'll compile from all posts: no other options ).

Yes, exactly this much....please. And do also add what time you normally go to bed. AsI forgot to add poll, I'll have to compile result manually now.

I go to bed sometime between 9.30 and 10.30/11.00pm on week nights and I wake up at 7am but on Saturdays I wake up at 9, on Sundays I sleep in and Fri/Sat night I got to bed whenever I feel like it.

I usually go to sleep at around 10 or 10:30 p.m and wake up at 6:00 a.m. (That totals to an amount of 7.5 to 8 hours of sleep every night). On the weekends, I tend to go to sleep later and wake up later as well.

I usually go to bed before mid-night and wake up between 6:00am to 7:00 am almost everyday. It means I sleep for about 6 to 7 hours everyday. However, I'm trying to sleep earlier than these timings and am trying to get up earlier as well. It is very fresh to wake up early and exercise. If you have often woke up early you would probably know the freshness of the morning. Also, if one doesn't sleep enough then it can effect one's mood the whole day.

I go to bed at 9:30 usually and read for an hour but it takes me about 1/2 an hour to fall asleep (I have M.E. which causes insomnia and unrefreshing sleep) and wake up at either 7:30 or 8am but get woken up several times during the night by my son (15 months old) so maybe 8 hours. Not that it partucularly matters to me - I can sleep 12, 16 hours and still wale up feeling like I haven't slept at all. Although, I would give a warning to you all - M.E. (aka Chronic Fatigue and Immune Dysfunction Syndrome) is tied into the immune system and regulatory parts of the brain. It most often hits overachievers i.e. workaholics who don't get enough sleep and can tell you now that if you are not getting at least 8 hours of sleep at night you could well be fast tracking yourself to this disease or at the very least Chronic Fatigue (aka burnout). Take it from me, get 9 hours (what sleep specialists recommend) because you do not want this illness!

sleeping is vastly over rated....during the week day i am forced to go to bed before 11:00 PM, but on the weekends i will stay up until 5 in the morning and wake at 7 or 8, and i wil feel like i slept for hours and hours and hours...i will have soo much eneergy i feel i could run the mile...for some reason i feel as if sleeping has no effect on me...i have pulled 4 all nighters in a row, as in i didn't sleep for four days and four nights....and i still slept like normal the followwing days/weeks.....and yet i wasn't tired at all during those four days..and it think it was BuffaloHELP who agree'd with me in the shoutbox the other day that sleeping was vastly over rated! and it is! lol...but this was a good bit of information i read....

This topic was discused recently (it might still be somewhere alive) but anyway.... I tend to sleep after mignight. I know it not good for me, since I can't wake up in the morning (until noon to be exact). I use techique of relaxation and self hypnosis to fall asleep since a geet deeper into "trance" that way and rest more. BUT the best way to avoid feeling tired is sports. It makes you go to bed early and you rest well, so you get ready for the next day. Aclohol can make you awake too. If consumed during the night (or before) the night might last too long for you The best time to go to sleep (for those of you who can make themselves to) is before midnight, right after dinner. You should wake up when Sun arises! p.s. the only time I see Sun arise is when I dont sleep at all

Monday to Friday: 10:00pm - 6:45am On weekends my sleep patterns are quite sporadic. I often go to friends places, or my fathers house, and I usually stay up nearly all night. On a weekend, my average night consists of a maximum of 4 hours... but quite often less... As for why I tend to stay up so late...... I'm really not quite sure... I always feel like crap all weekend... but yeah... I get lots of web and gfx stuff done...

Most of your posts make me feel like a night owl! I tend to "make" myself go to bed at 2am, so that I can wake up at a decent time (I like to wake up before noon if at all possible lol... and yes, I know... that's not decent by many people's standards lol, but if I can get to bed by 2am, then I'm usually asleep by 2:30 cause I like to do a little reading first, and then after my hours of sleep I tend to wake up between 11 and 12 noon). There are lots of nights that I end up staying up way later than I want though... and lots of times I'm up until 5am *yawn*... but I really don't like alarm clocks, so most of the time I can sleep until my body decides to wake up and by then I figure if it's woken up on it's own, then I've probably gotten enough sleep. Mind you, I still tend to wake up around noon-ish even on those days that I stay up later. I tend to sleep for 9 hours without having my alarm clock set. That seems like a long time, but I guess that's just how much I need now. I used to only need a few hours sleep though in high school, cause back then I'd hardly sleep at all -- like going to bed at 3 am, and then waking up again at 6 am to get ready for school. Those days were so great, because I could get so much stuff done. Now I feel like there's not enough hours in the day to get all the things I want done I wish I could sleep less... but from what you said, it's probably good that I sleep longer to make sure that everything is rested and healthy. You know one thing that might make sense... is that now, my eyes get even more strain because I'm always looking at a computer screen, when back in the days that I didn't sleep much, I didn't have a computer, so maybe by wearing my eyes out more, it makes me need more sleep time to recover, which would work really well in line with how you said that sleep is most important for our eyes.

A sleep of just 6 hours is ok for a human being, as i am a biologist basically i advice a persomn should have atleast 6 hours of sleep or else you life will get short. Coz there would be some chemical imbalace in brain which will lead to more trouble in future. So have a sound sleep of 6 hours atlest. Even this helps to boost memory cells and for the growth of the neural networks in brain.

The amount of sleep I get each night really ranges depending on how I feel, what I am doing that night, and what I did that day. I rarely get more than 8 hours of sleep each night. I usually get between 6 and 7. Sometimes less, sometimes more. This year I've had school all but a month so it was really changing a lot. But it's still summer so I want to hang out at night and what not. Also if I have homework that'll give me less time to socialize so I'll stay up later, or if I feel really tired and know I need sleep I'll sometimes just go to bed earlier. I usually go to bed between 10:30 and 11 but sometimes it'll be later.

Meditation Instead Of Sleep?
Is it normal? Or healthy? (9) My story of meditation started last year. For the past year I have been extremely stressed out for
not doing as well in competetions as I wanted, not keeping the perfect grade in all of my classes,

everything came back to normal and I just forgot about that period. I started getting all A's

Just Mates

Uberman's Sleep Schedule.
Sleep just 2-3 hours per day (4) I am always wondering if this works out. Its also called polyphasic sleep or Da vinci sleep. What u
do is like just sleep for 20-30 minutes in every 4 hours interval. THis way u will only spend 2-3
hours a day and there will be lot of waking hours. Its hard to start and get used to it as I have
read the journals of the people who have tried and also succed in doing so. But I am unaware of the
health hazards it may bring about. Any ideas dear friends??....
What Do You Guys Think About People Who Sleep Around
? (18) A close friend of mine is very liberal and she sleeps with a different guy every week and
continously sleeps with a few of them steadily. She's also very open about it and let's her

talk to. But alot of people we know especially other girls call her a slut behind her back and
constantly make fun of her. Is it really that bad to be open about sexuality, are social laws so
unforgiving. I just want to know what some of you would think of her, and be realistic, like y....
As You Sleep

you are a dream, For hours I just stay up to look, Making sure you are real, So I give your face a

if you think about me, Do I ever play a main role in one of your dreams, I know how crazy some of
this seems, But late at night my favorite thing to do is see your face, Even your cute freckles all
over the place, So as you sleep and dream away, Right beside you is where I lay. ....
Getting Enough Sleep At Night
here's my advice (15) One thing I notice amoung today's youth is that teenagers don't get enough sleep at night.
Studies show, teenagers need at least nine hours of sleep every day. Some teenagers have even went
as far as bragging about their lack of sleep. Some teens think people who sleep are lazy, and waste
time. They are sometime subconsciously tricked into believing that. Well guess what: it's a
proven fact that A-students get 45 minutes more sleep on average than C-students. Lack of sleep is a
great hindrance to one's growth and education. So how do you get enough sleep....

With My Brothers I Sleep.
Something i wrote about Operation Overlord (0) I look up and see a seagul gliding through the wind gracefully. How i long to fly above the clouds
and see the stars at night in the sky, glimmering like christmas lights on a cold Christmas evening.
I look in front of me and see a group of boys, my brothers, longing to go home. Their faces are
with concern and regret. Some hunched over with their faces in their hands, and some with their eyes
closed praying. I look to my left and see a vast ocean with thick fog as if we were on a plane
flying through the clouds. The waves beat against our boat's side as if begging ....

How Many Hours Do You Sleep?
(193) When I get less than 4 hrs of sleep, I'm a walking zombie, and can fall asleep anywhere if I sit
