QUOTE(Thorned Rose @ Mar 8 2007, 12:23 AM) Get enough sleep! What does this have to do with weight loss? People who don't get enough sleep are more likely to put on weight and/or have more trouble losing weight. The minimum is 8 hours though sleep specialists recommend 9. Plus you'll be all the more productive and less stressed for it. One of my pet hates - milk. Avoid it. I know it sounds crazy but when you've studied it as much as I have, you come to realise it's not good stuff. In fact it contributes to weight gain in a BIG way amongst other things! Really, this is all just common sense. The only other piece of advice is something a doctor once told me - "Eat like a caveman". i.e. eat foods that are as natural and unprocessed as possible. If you follow what I've said, you'll not only lose weight but you'll be healthy and so long as you stick with eating properly and exercising at least 20 mins a day, you'll stay that way for the rest of your life! Thanks so much for that whole post. I will definitely be listening to some of the thigns you've been saying. I generally don't have a problem keeping weight off......but only recently have I noticed a little more pudge on my body. I need to get wayyy more sleep and start working out a little bit more. Anyway.....this thread is helpful and good luck on your book writing Thorned Rose. Thanks for the info.

basicly what i can say is, don't follow diets, just eat healthy, and don' t eat after 8pm,than after that try exercising, 30 min a day, or 1 hour each 2 days, this will keep u fit and on weight,i personal execise 3 time a week for 1,5 hours so 5 hours a week, ,so its very important not to less than u need, cause ur body will store fat, so make sure u eat good, but exercise, thats it and u will stay on weight i promise

I've started on a program called First Place (it's a religion-based plan), and so far it's pretty good. All about eating a balanced diet and getting proper amounts of exercise. I also lost 30 pounds by moving to England for 4 months, living on the 5th floor of a castle, and eating English food lol

I think people should be allowed to eat what they want and not be told what they can and can't eat. "Fatty" foods should be ok to eat aslong as they arent eaten exessively, im no expert but I think its more to do with how we exercise rather than what we eat. Obviously everything we eat should be fatty because we know that wont help but we shouldnt have to banish them completely like people are told to do on diets. If people exercised more often and exercised to some sort of a program then I believe it is a better way to keep in shape, I walk atleast an hour a day just out and about and dont eat that healthily but manage to keep my body in decent shape just from the exercise. Chris.

It's summer, so before I do other things I have 2 or 3 weeks at a vacation house, where I can swim all I want. Since I love swimming, I've been planning to swim practically all day (laps). Swimming helps us to reduce weight or u can use detox diets to loose weight .The detox diet focuses on getting rid of the harmful aspects of our everyday diet.detox diets will help u to a great extent to reduce weight and be slim.Instead of eating 2 - 3 meals per day, try eating 4 - 5 small meals per day, or 3 meals and 2 healthy snack meals. Food substitutions can help tremendously when trying to reduce calories and speed up the metabolism. else all you need is a lil bit of control over the fastfood's food do maybe 35 sit ups in the morning to build up on your abs.. drink more water and not other drinks... this may work This is practical and u can try this one too.... find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose. eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism) 5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day 8 glasses of water have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism) dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily. ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:) Atlast EAT HEALTHY FOOD NOT FATTY FOODS

Really, as long as you work out daily, do a good workout that is. Eat good foods, bananas are particularly good when its hot out and you wanna run. (keeps you a little cooler, but you still sweat). Remember to EAT! Eating is important, the longer you don't eat, the more fat you will gain.

Here in Belgium, I heard of a new diet: I dunno the exact name but it should be something like a Braiding diet (translated from babelfish, it's 'vlechtdieet' in Dutch). You can only eat apples, a certain amount per meal and if you are still hungry, you start braiding. It might seem pretty weird, but it's really effective. Some overweight guy from my school did this for 2 months and he lowered his weight with like 50 or 60kg... The result is kind of creepy, when u know someone for a long time as a 'fatso' (don't mean to insult anyone) and then after 2 months he is like 1 of the skinniest guys in school. Try searching more on google, but i don't know the exact name in English.

what helps for me is that i try to go on a 3 mile run everyday to sweat all that fat off. i too am not overweight and running and exercising has helped me keep the weight off. Also, lifting weights will help you look stronger and might hide the fat. I also eat a lot of protein and carbs, but not too much fatty food

ok, weightloss That's a very very broad subject, and many theories on the issue. I will talk about some practical ways. There are two main pathways to lose weight, and I suggest combining the two. The first one is to eat less than you burn, and the second is to burn more than you eat. The first one consists of diminishing your calories intake, and the second one consists of raising the metabolism, the speed at which we burn energy. Now what is tricky, is that lowering one's calorie intake, lowers one's metabolism, and therefore we burn less. And raising our metabolism makes us eat more calories. That's annoying... but that's how God made us. Now to find the correct balance is what is very important. The trick is to be very honest with ourselves and pinpoint exactly where we stand in the energy intake-energy burning scale. The trick is to eat a little bit less than we do usually, and exercise a little bit more than we usually do, and every month diminish intake and increase exercising a little bit. It's by making consistant and regular baby steps, easy and continuous improvements, that we can lose weight with little effort and difficulty. losing a few pounds every month for 2 years is more stable than losing 40 pounds in 2 months. what goes easily will come back easily. Our bodies need discipline, long term discipline. Fun also helps. Many people who lost a lot of weight did so because they found out they enjoyed some kind of sport, and practiced it as often as they could. So it was not just a "weight loss workout" but fun. Don't look at women's magazines, no one can live upto the way they look, not even the models themselves. that's why they have so much surgeries and make up on their bodies, or are anorexic. Enjoy your bodies, but be healthy. Don't change because of the way you look, but change because of what you will enjoy with your body. Enjoy your health.

Lose Weight Without Dieting Or Tiring Yourself Out
(0) This topic will be useful for lazy people (like me!) who do not like jogging, sports, working
out in the gym and love eating. The following methods encourage you to make little movements that
promote activity in your body daily and regularly without you having to sweat it out. Bear in mind,
however, that it will have little effect on obese people and anyone who wants to lose a lot of
weight quickly. Laugh aloud for 100 times daily. You will burn as much calories as rowing a canoe
for 10 minutes would. Breathe deeply with your abdomen muscles : Take in deep breat....
