photobucket used to have this thing called practice html. About 7 years ago when i knew nothing about computers I used that and the little buttons that added tags for you to make <b> <u> <i> <a> <img> tags, and went on from there. I later learned tables and finaly the important stuff: CSS I only recently learned php (just a few years ago) but it has easily grown as my favorite programming language.

I agree with this. Though I didn't learn it in a day myself, if I had put forth more effort I could have probably gotten a better grasp on the language. Since I didn't though it did take me a couple of weeks (2 or 3) to get a decent grasp on the language.

I found a really good website to learn from the link is html goodies. If you follow the program it will only take you 1 week to learn. I made my site with it check it out www.zoneender.blogspot.com.

it took me about a month, but i was also learning php so it would take me less time, besides, its only a hobiee, i did it on my free time... besides, there are tons of very good tutorials that can help you to learn very fast html

It didn't really take a whole lot of time. If you really sit down and take the time out to learn, you can do it in no time.

I got a book called HTML in 4 hours, and I read it and it really helped me to learn the basic codes and the basics to make my first page. Then I just screwed around and made pages. One thing I did that really helped me was I downloaded a premade template, and messed with the already made HTML. I looked at how they used that HTML to create what I was looking at on the page. It really helped me out a lot.

I actually learned html after mastering php. First it was a friend who wrote the html and did all the designing and I handeled the backend but slowly I became good with html also (guess you can't help it).

By dibbling and dabbling with Macromedia Dreamweaver I learnt to create pages within a week or two, and then refined my code when figured out newer techniques.

I'm still learning it but, I am getting close to becoming a master at it. Hopefully in weeks or so. Let's see.... Damn excited though!

It is easy to learn enough HTML to be able to make web pages and even small website. You could learn enough to make something in just one day. However, if you want to be a professional or anything close to professional, you should know a lot more. You should know about all kinds of little quirks and standards. A lot of things you only learn by experience. If your goal is to make professional websites, HTML is not enough. You should learn HTML first. But learning HTML is only the first step to many more things. It will lead you to other things like CSS, Javascript, Flash, and Server-side scripts like PHP, ASP, Perl, etc. Learning everything about ALL of these topics is nearly impossible. Usually people focus on one or two programming languages specifically and learn as much as possible about them. Knowing EVERYTHING about a programming language (every function, every rule, every...thing) is pretty much impossible or at least very rare and very difficult. I focus on PHP because it is easy to find hosts with PHP. It is open source and very popular. Sorry if I'm a little off topic with the whole programming thing and everything. My point is, it doesn't take long to learn enough HTML to make a web page. It does take a long time to learn enough about HTML and whatever else you need (CSS, Scripting, etc) to make a very nice webpage.
