If you check mods (modifications) section in phpbb site - http://www.phpbb.com/mods/ - you'll get your answer easily. You should read their FAQ - http://www.phpbb.com/mods/faq.php - to get a general idea of what you'll be working with. another good resource is - http://www.phpbbhacks.com/ - which has plenty of hacks to modify your forum!-

Some common ones you may have seen are like the shop hack...Where you get points for posting and you can buy little things in the shop with them. They can also be used for adding little features in here and there..... I would definatly agree with what ket said, thats good info....

If you do put it here. (3) As the name implies, I think it would be a good idea to giving those who aren't really "mod
savvy" a chance to look at what phpBB's could look like with some regular mods installed. If
this thread is innappropriate I'll be glad to delete it away or rather, I give permission to

(3) Ok I feel really really stupid (Which I am when it comes to this) but anyway on the SMF forum, there
is a package manager, you click install, and it installs the mods on the forum. However, sometimes
it gives you a link, to download the mod. So yeah I download it, and it appears on my desktop as a
bunch of icons that only make a million tabs appear when opened. I was wondering where in the world
am I supposed to put these mods so that they will work? I have tried some things but they did
nothing... Please help! Why Don't I ever get any replies! ....

Trying To Install Phpbb3 [resolved]
but getting 'Error 404' (0) Ok, ive uploaded al lthe files, but i get an 'Error 404' page every time i try to install
from the /install directory. I do know how to install php based forums, i have done it many times,
but im just trying to figure out why this one isnt working. Have tried going through the CHMOD
settings but that didnt work. Ugh nevermind, my FTP program wasnt telling me it kept on losing the
connections. Had to upload each file by myself /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":("

Can't Install Phpbb!
Help! (21) I am getting very frustrated as I cannot for the life of me figure out how to install phpbb
completely. I've uploaded all the files using FTPSmart. I think clicked on the install.php
fine, and was taken to the screen where I fill everything out. It says I successfully did all that:

Help Installing Phpbb On My Site [resolved]
(6) Ok, i am hosted here and i am trying to get the phpBB2 forums installed on my site. I have made a
database, i have uploaded all of the folders to the FTP. Now everytime i try to start the install,
it either says that there is a critical error, and that i have configured something wrong. Does
anybody know the Database Type i need to use? And any other help that you could tell me would be

Admin. Panel. But in the Style Management section I am not able to change the style. I can see both

me... Im looking for a decent, free shoutbox to put on my SMF. I found one made for SMF but its
auto-scroll thingy is irritating. I found one free service with google but it's so narrow and
doesnt support special charters... Then I realised there is a perfect shoutbox in trap17

logins (forum names and passwords) and making it protect a certain area of my site, as i would hate
to have 2 different logins for the forum and the site... basically, im looking for something that
allows you to log into the forum without going to the forum, and when ur logged in on the forum, it
also allows you to go to a different area, outside of the forum. Secondly, is it possible to
create a .zip file with php directly on the hosting server?....

install it fully when i got this error message An error occurred trying to update the database

problem is that , anyone can post there , i mean even Not registered members can post there and the
forum doest even tell him/her that you need to sign in before you post , i want to remove this thing

Help (4) Hello.. I dont have any knowledge of MySQL and PHP...I have my site hosted here..And i installed SMF
Forum..It only took less than a minute.And after installing it, i made saw that it was perfect
working.Then to verfiy it , i loged out my admin account and registered a new member, and then sent
a messege to that account...and it worked... In simple words, it said before installing that it will
use MY mysql database , but i dont have any mysql database installed on my computer.I am confuse
what is that, since this forum is working without any mysql ?? please tell me is it....

Want to try it (7) I found a hosting control panel package called Zpanel. Supposedly it works with Windows and *nix. I
am thinking of uploading and installing it on my web space here, to see what it is like, and then
maybe install it on my SuSE Linux box here at home. Would there be any problems installing it that

Fantastico Is Not Installing Forums Properly

Installing php msg boards (9) I am trying to put php forums on my site. I think the only ones around are these
http://www.phpbb.com correct? even if there not they seem to be what most people use. I currently
have proboards which deffinelty leaves alot to be desired. What I am wondering is after i download
the forums and upload them via ftp. Where do i upload them to? the Public_html folder? and if so
can i edit and/make boards and categoirs etc just from being an admin on those forums or do i need
to go through the buttons on my cpanel Labeled MySQL Databases, phpMyAdmin, PostgreSQL Database ....
