funny how i got my first computer (that i have that only i use) i have not bought a computer i have however put money into this computer but only nabout 80 bucks lol... my first computer was a toshiba thinkpad laptop. think it was a p1 233 mhz or something huge tho... like 1 gig hd at most 200 mb ram if even dont rember had a flopy tho only good for internet and tetris... pretty much gave up in that one after a while. but my next computer i kinda stole from my dad it was just sitting in a box in the attic (i declare the attic fair game... :-)) but that was a p3 1 ghz 512 ram 10 gig hd wasnt that bad had a dvd player!!! then my next one was a dell inspiron 8200 which was a p4 1.7 ghz started with 512 ram later upgraded to a gig 30 gig hd nvidia go2 or somthing graphics dvd player very sweet machine cause i got it cause my toshiba that i "stole" just stoped working... now i have a generic pc desktop thats a p4 2.8 ghz 1 gig ram nvidia geforece 4 ti4600 3x 40 gig hds (found 2 in the attic,...) upgraded to usb 2.0 upgraded cdrom to dvd rw + - and yeah tahts about all ive got its pretty sweet lol all the computer i got from my dad he let me use the desktop to encode movies but i ended up like this more than the laptop cause i wanted more variables to be able to mess with as far as upgrades lol

Well, my first computer was a Epson 386, with a 5"1/4 HD of 40MB, 1 mb ram, floppy and a cga monitor ( :S ) that was a amazing computer with Dosshell, without windows, without mouse, and th worst thing: a huge fan!!! (oooo i really hated that damn fan, too noisy for me) well the computer works fine until december, 2001. then it "magically" get damaged, (that happenned when i was 12 years old), then my father said that i will never have a computer again, but in the next year, he bought one, an AMD Duron 1.1GHz, 40 GB HD, 256MB ram, and CD-RW, thats the same computer that i still using on these days, but i need to change it, maybe in few months im going to adquire a new one

i snatched my pc from the store. hehehe. just kidding. my parents bought this, although the pc is second hand, that's why i need a new one or a new laptop. gimme some laptop!!! hehe.

I just bought my new hp computer from bestbuy. I costed me around 1.5k, but its worth every penny, cheaper then even just building one with all the power thats in this comp. But now I owe my parents like 1k, and I have to work for it

my uncle got me this computer for no apparent reason. he always gets my family the nicest things. he got me a pool table, this computer, and the day after the gave me this computer (he slept over at my house), his car got frickin' jacked. is dat what he gets for giving??

iBook: Purchased online from Apple.com before extensive travel in other countries July 2002. $~1800 G3 700, 14.1" screen, combo drive. PowerMac: Bought when the company I work for was replacing all the G4's with G5's. Dual 1.25Ghz G4, 4GB RAM, 4x160GB HDDs for $1250 about 1.5 years ago. (And Final Cut Pro Studio that I never bothered to wipe off...) Compaq Alpha Server: Bought from work when moved the renderfarm from Alpha to Xserve: $1750 in 2001 or 2002...can't remember. Quad Alpha 500mhz CPU's, NT4 for Alpha, 2GB Ram, 3x18GB SCSI HDD. DEC Alpha Workstation: Diddo from work, $750 in 2001. 350Mhz, 1GB Ram, NT4 for Alpha Mac Mini: I bought online from various Ebay Auctions about $420 each. All are 1.25 Ghz with 1GB Ram. I use them for Xgrid nodes for Lightwave and Xgrid rendering for Terragen and Blender 3D. PowerBook: G4 1Ghz, 1GB Ram, $650. I just bought this last week from a friend. He's getting a MacBook Pro and I needed something to replace my iBook. Current Final Cut has no Intel versions out and I do a lot of video work on the side. I don't want to switch to Intel chips until the software is there and the bugs are worked out. 3x IBM PIII 867: got these at an auction for $60 a piece last year. They run FreeBSD just fine and are decent rendering nodes for Xgrid as well.

Decent Computer

Can't Start Up My Computer
(6) I can't start up my computer. When I switch it on, it just goes to a blank screen, or sometimes,
it will go to the Blue Screen of Death, and the message on it changes every time, so I don't
even know how to solve it. I've gotten the Page Fault In Non Paged Area error a couple of times.
I tried to boot my computer from my Windows XP Service Pack 1 CD, but after running it and repairing
Windows XP, the problem isn't solved. I've also tried to start my computer from safe mode

Computer restarting while playing games (7) I have read in a lot of forums about the importance of this component. And with regards to my
problem of the computer restarting while playing games, this could very well be the reason but I
can't confirm anything. When I bought my graphics card Winfast A6200 TD, a minimum of 400w

New Computer, Help With Parts?
(12) so you may have heard that my pc died a while back, i was trying to see if anybody in this forum
knew how to fix it lol. anyway, i've now decided to replace some parts in it, a simple upgrade.

Is it better? (7) What do you think of the widescreen display laptops are beginning to adopt nowadays? Is that the
right way to go? Or should we stick to our original display (800 * 600, 1024 * 768 ... etc) instead
of (1280 * 800). For me I think these widescreen display should be the way to go, it allows you
more space to do your stuff especially if you are doing some image editing, and that requires a huge

Strange Thing Happened To My Computer
(26) I was on my computer a couple nights ago. Chatting with some friends and email what have you. And
all of a sudden, It froze. I was like, Oh great. So i shut down the computer using the button. And

PC Randomly Crashes And Hangs, Ideas? (16) I recently got a new computer, a NEC i-Select D5410. A few days ago it started to randomly crash,
