Its actually a three part series. I have read the first two, and they were very, very funny.
I highly suggest them.
wrong wrong wrong... its four parts...
haven't you heard their motto? "A trilogy in four parts" The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy The Restaurant at the End of the Universe Life, the Universe and Everything So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish
im just posting in to see if anuone has read The Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy
here, take a look at this photo and see for yourself The last book I still haven't read tho and a recent one was written in 92, though some don't consider it not in the series. (Mostly Harmless)
i absolutely love these books. i am reading them at the moment, and they are by far the funniest that i have ever EVER read. i think that brockian ultra cricket should actually be a game! it would be quite hilarious...

(Mostly Harmless) wrong wrong wrong! it's a -5- part trilogy you also forgot the book published after he died- Salmon of A Doubt. Truly, -no- Douglas Adams fan should be without reading it! Also, no fan of Hitch hiker's should forget to read the Dirk Gently books- they are truly ingenious... It's possible to not like douglas adam's writings, I guess. But to anyone who loves the irrelevant, the offbeat, the absolutely wrong and yet in reality, actual life, then you'll love Douglas Adams. ...Who couldn't after reading the fifth book in a [tri]logy? It was actually made into a multiple-part miniseries for the BBC a while back, and the original version of Hitch hiker's was actually a radio show, but Douglas Adams actually died seeing his work being turned into a movie- which for a while, we all thought was lost. But actually, it's finally coming- with trailers coming soon.
if you go to the official hitchikers movie site there's a teaser trailer up...not with characters though, which is a bit dissapointing, but it's a good site
I love these books. I have The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Life, the Universe and Everything, So Long and Thanks for all the Fish, Mostly Harmless, and Young Zaphod Plays it Safe. Now they have a trailor with the characters it looks great!
It is actually a trilogy of five books. (not the three or four that had previously been stated)
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy The Restaurant at the End of the Universe Live, the Universe, and Everything So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish Mostly Harmless They were all written by Douglas Adams It is an excellent series. It is advised to read the books in order, since it gets a bit confusing if you read them out of order. The movie has been being worked on for a LONG time. It had just been at the beginnings of picking a cast when Douglas Adams died, and it was put on hold for quite a while after that. For a while there was talk that it was not ever going to be made into a movie. Latest Entries
Well, the story is about:
A regular human is forced to (becasue of some events) leave the Earth. The book tells the struggles of Arthur who tries to survive the universe, geting used to universe. In his adventures, Arthur meets many different cultures. All of his encounters are hillarious. In the book Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy is actully a electronic encyclopedia. It's given to Arthur by his alien friend. The guide is more or less like wikipedia :) Ive bought the all books but I couldnt finnish it. I got bored (after around 550 pages) when Arthur finds a girlfriend. One of these days, I'll finish it.
Hm... I didn't know the they made the book from the movie. Cool idea that they did it though, i don't know anywhere where i could find the book.
Can any of you guys tell me where to find it and how much the price of the book is? I'd like to see what they got to say and how the book relates to the movie because the movie was funny. Also, from people that have read the book and have seen the movie. Do they actually tell you stuff about hitch hiking in the galaxy. Anyways i live close to a barnes and noble and yea i would just want to know a little about the book and how much it goes for on the shelfs. Thank you.
Ok, I heard the books are absolutely hilarious, like you will laugh out loud to yourself, but all I have to say is: DON"T SEE THE MOVIE. It's just dumb, not even funny, and is the only movie I paid $7.00 to get into and felt it was still worth it to leave in the middle.
Is there a certain age you should be to read this book? I tried it when I was younger...and only read the first few pages thinking it was boring. I think I might pick it up again to see if i'll take to it differently this time.
If you have read the books and also listened to the radio series ( original Hitch Hikers Guide), there are a lot of different things, though the story follows the same structure more or less. Also the radio series, I believe is funnier than the books, the sounds are really top notch and its a treat listening to the sigh of the automatic doors....... Marvin......Arthur.
The ending is also different, but i'll not spoil it for you. I have got the link for all the Radio transcripts ( .mp3 ), but I'm not sure if its legal |
