How I Can Hide Web Page Extension?

Hello..Whenever i try to upload some webpage , it shows its extension , for example www.mydomain.com/news.htm , (or any other ext). But i have seen many many websites where their pages doesnt have the extension....for example www.yahoo.com/news/
Can you please tell me how i can hide the extension of the page? I am not advance user , so i need you guys help.

Well thats a very easy thing im sure even for you. all you have to do is make a new folder with your ftp client or through the file manager in your cPanel and call it news in the public_html folder. then what you would have to do is upload the thing that you would normaly call news.htm into the news folder except you have to call it index.htm

It will tell you how to do it with .Htaccess, I think it is a much more efficient way than the other method suggested.

I guess you have to create an index file for every folder..

for each and everypage we cannot create a separate folder  and name it as a index.Html.
