Well there are so many things we are not explored yet.i posted this in many forums.here is one copy for trap17 peoples.
there is a secret file in Windows XP called "quotes". In order to get there you must be somewhat familiar with how to use Windows, simply open up My Computer (explorer) and double click on your main drive (probably C next navigate to: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc This is where the quotes file is. Open the file named quotes in your favorite text editor (notepad, MS Word, Emacs:p ) then look at the quotes put there by the MS developers! **note: I use Windows XP Pro, it might only work in professional edition **
On the screen in Win XP Pro where one logs in initially, there is a tiny little Easter Egg.
Simply leave your computer on that screen long enough for the screensaver to come on. Then move the mouse. What happened? Well, look in the bottom left corner. The litte button marked "Turn of computer" now reads "Turn off Banana 2000"! ((For those who don't ge it, in the comic strip Bloom County, one character owned a Banana 2000 computer, which eventually became a character in its own existential right... walking around and everything))
Special Requirements: Windows XP Pro
Candy Cane Pipes
1.Go to Display Properties 2.Click the Screen saver tab then Click 3D Pipes 3.Click Settings 4.Click Textured 5.Click Choose Texture 6.Click Cancel. 7.Click OK on the Screen Saver Setup Now The Pipes should be Candy Cane Colored!
Strange... I know my computer is running on XP Pro, but I didn't see the Quotes file. That's an interesting tutorial, thanks a lot! Now I'll be alert to see if there's something around the corner in XP. *drools for more secrets*

When you start up your computer for the first time, you are given the opportunity to name it and describe it. You can see the name and description, and change the description by right clicking on My Computer, going to Properties, then Computer Name. What you see at the bottom left on the login screen is the computer description.
As for the pipes, the candy canes is just the default texture. You don't have to hit cancel, just select textured.
Lastly, the quotes, I don't have it either. It's possible you just saved something there inadvertantly.

Hey! I tried to find the quotes, and I wasn't able too... I even did a search for files or folders with 'quotes' in the title, but didn't find anything that looked too close to that. Oh well. And I'm using XP Pro too
As for the candy canes! Very cool! I got them working and now they are my screen saver. I suppose that means I'll have to get off my computer long enough for it to come on
I always thought that Microsoft only cared about releasing buggy products. I never thought that they would put in easter eggs and hidden quotes. Thanks for showing us these I am sure we would not have found any of them without your help.
i cant find the quotes .. the candy cane is awesome... i changed from the stars to this one... in the etc folder, i only found 6 item.. none of them are quotes
So, some of you might know about this already but, anyways... The other day I was trying to install
a game but did not have the necessary disk space, so I deleted files that I will not use, and other
files that I do not need... I compressed some files that I might use later in the future... And just
doing that got me back around two to three gigabytes of free hard disk space... But that's not
enough, the game needed 6 gigabytes of free disk space! So what did I do next? I ran CCleaner...
It took a while yes, but soon it free'd another 2 gigabytes... ARRGH&....

The Registry has to be one of the least understood aspects of the Windows operating system family. A
wrong entry in the Registry can potentially wreak havoc on the system. To understand the Registry is
to get to the heart of controlling and modifying your Windows system. If you know what you are
doing, you can turn your machine into a lean performance machine, customize and personalize its
appearance, and get complete control over nearly every aspect of how Windows XP behaves. It is
always recommended that you take a backup of the Registry before proceeding with an edit,....

If you have been using Microsoft Windows Vista for quite some time, you would have noticed that
installing a number of programs/softwares into your computer considerably slows down the response
time of your start menu program folder, sometimes up to one second or more before the programs
listed in a particular start menu folder is displayed. Worst of all, if you are trying to launch a
program from you start menu which is within another start menu prrograms folder. Well, I have found
a way to bypass this very annoying thing in Windows Vista. I have about 98 start menu en....

I know that there has been many at times, when for some reason or the other, people would want to
disable the ability of Windows XP to boot into safe mode. Even though that this is not a very thing
advisable thing to do, but still, people, due to some reasons best known to them would always want

I realize there is another topic in this section about the recycle bin, but it doesn't mention
how to rename the recycle bin. Like most other tasks of this nature, accomplishing this will require
modifying the windows registry. First, open the registry editing tool "regedit" by clicking on
Start, Run then typing in "regedit" before pressing OK. Screenshot:

Here is one of the not so known method for free-up the RAM to make the Windows run faster. When
programs run in Windows XP, they frequently use what are called DLLs (Dynamic-Link Libraries). These
contain shared programming instructions and other files like icons, graphics, sounds, etc. that
different applications use in order to run. DLLs are stored in RAM whenever the applications load
them; when you quit a program, XP is supposed to release the DLL from memory. But some DLLs can get
stuck. Here is the method to mend this up. Step 1: You can force Windows XP to re....
