Help With Poem Please! - 2 lines from Elizabeth Childers

garbageacc3
Hello,

I need help analyzing 2 lines from this poem

QUOTE
184. Elizabeth Childers

DUST of my dust,
And dust with my dust,
O, child who died as you entered the world,
Dead with my death!
Not knowing Breath, though you tried so hard, 5
With a heart that beat when you lived with me,
And stopped when you left me for Life.
It is well, my child. For you never traveled
The long, long way that begins with school days,
When little fingers blur under the tears 10
That fall on the crooked letters.
And the earliest wound, when a little mate
Leaves you alone for another;
And sickness, and the face of Fear by the bed;
The death of a father or mother; 15
Or shame for them, or poverty;
The maiden sorrow of school days ended;
And eyeless Nature that makes you drink
From the cup of Love, though you know it's poisoned;
To whom would your flower-face have been lifted? 20
Botanist, weakling? Cry of what blood to yours?—
Pure or foul, for it makes no matter,
It's blood that calls to our blood.
And then your children—oh, what might they be?
And what your sorrow? Child! Child! 25
Death is better than Life!

What do you think is the meaning of:

"To whom would your flower-faced have been lifted?
Botanist, weakling? Cry of what blood to yours?"

Don't double post.

One liners are considered spam.

It means that if the child hadn't died, who's day would it have brightened up? the second line i cant help you on, sorry.

ok. This is what I understand by those lines -

"To whom would your flower-faced have been lifted?
Botanist, weakling? Cry of what blood to yours?"

1st line -

who would u (beautiful as you are) fall in love with?

2nd line (1st question) - Botanist, weakling?

is it someone who will take care of you or who would not be able to rise up to his responsibilities towards you?

2nd line (2nd question) - Cry of what blood to yours?

from which kind of family/nobility/lineage/pedigree as compared to yours

NOTE: the other lines now corroborate this by saying, that it really does not matter and what matters is he loves you.

I hope this helps. Take care.

I'm almost afraid to post here after some of the touchy people leaving terse comments. Anyway, what I got from the first line:

"To whom would your flower-face have been lifted?"
What would I, your mother have been like if you hadn't died during birth? Strong and supportive or would I have let you down in life.

the poet is narrating what might happen if it lived.

on that line one of what you requested, it is the ascension/revelation to immorality, an example is drinking and such.

second line is the child contemplating what he has done wrong. the anxiety of doing something wrong.

hope it helps

    Through weavings of bramble and hedge, shaded from the blue and sun, play salamander, fairies, good

    Their common element is fire, sparked by magic, glimmered flakes of mayfly wing, bubbling soup of
    phosphor. I am scion of a line of druid priests. We were angels once, beings of the golden chord,

    this is just a short poem i made last night: Where does love exually park? as for some of us its
