| | Ok here is the problem. My computer is restarting by its self. I have run many many different virus scanners and spyware, nothing.
It only restarts in two situations: 1) Right after startup, when the network connection status icon apperas in the task bar 2) Whenever a network connection is establushed, so If i restart my router, my pc restarts too, also when connection to Hamachi, VPN software..
This is getting very annoying, My pc needs to be on 24/7 because of certain things, but It lokes to restart itself
I have an AMD Athlon XP 2300+ 2GB RAM nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT 256MB 120GB and 300GB hard drives on-board LAN
I have established that It is not my RAID card, my 300GB hard drive or my wireless network card taht is causeing it to restart, nor is it my RAM...
Any ideas?
Thanks, Craig |

Check few things more: 1. the temperature of your cpu, from the description about network card the cpu is not a probem probably butit is a good idea to eliminate this reason. 2. have you tried to switch the network card to another pci? If this network card is integrated in mainboard, have you tried to install seperate one and not use integrated one? 3. In case of onboard lan: google a little bit searching for your mainboard model and network problems, maybe the bios update will solve the problem?

Maybe, this doesn't help, but download a Linux live CD like UBUNTU and run it in your computer, if it's stable (it is supposed to recognize your network card and your internet connection and automatically connect to it) you will know that is not the hardware the problem. 75% of the cases where computers restart by themselves is because Windows has a problem. And not because of the hardware, so why don't you try this? Thanks for reading, and hope it helps

Yes, but I was telling you for testing purposes only, my idea was for you to enter Linux to check that your computer hardware really works, and if it works, you will be sure that you would have to reinstall Windows because that was the problem, and not like other ones said, the hardware. Sorry for the misunderstanding Best Regards, Wasser

Ubuntu Linux has three options, one of the options is to install it on your HDD and share space with windows and you choose what system you want to start, another is to install it deleting windows and the third one is NOT to install it and run it from the CD, without touching the HDD, so it won't mess your files, it won't even touch them, it will load all the system files on your RAM memory. It's free to use and download, enter the website and check it out ;D

I may be stupid being answering this , but , have you checked your ram ??? sometimes , something goes wrong with RAM and it keeps on restarting computer very often , if u have more than 1 memory stick in ur cpu , then u can check by putting only one stick and taking off others.. check them one by one...even some problem in one ram can cause that..

Next time you install windows: make 2 partitions on your hard drive; 1 @ 20gb or so for the os and the 2nd partition(the remainder of the hard drive) for installing games and backing up files or anything else. This saves time and makes for quick reinstalls. I know this isn't exactly help for your situation but its good for the future. -reply by nate

It looks like you are having some problem with your network card. Have you just reinstalled your drivers for your network card? Or have you reinstalled Windows before the whole problem started? It might be the cause of an invalid or corrupted drivers for your network card. Make sure you get the correct and updated drivers. In your situation, it looks like your computer immediately restarted once the status of your network card changes. If you are sure that it is not the drivers that caused the problem, then it may be the fault from Hamachi since it uses the resources from the network card. The program may edit configurations, such as your network status, IP addresses, share settings etc. Be sure you check the Hamachi options to confirm if it does not change your network settings. I can suggest you to uninstall Hamachi first, and try to go into the internet. If you are able to surf the internet well, then it must be the fault from Hamachi. Otherwise, it has to be the fault from your network drivers. Reinstall the network drivers if Hamachi is not the cause of the fault. That's the life I in general reinstall windows if I use it a not too much every month if I push it too hard, maybe every week... If you have Windows installed in your system for a long time, it's inevitable for you to reinstall, first because it will give you a lot of error messages and second because it will be slower and slower each time you use it and the performance in games will decrease too... Not just windows, all that runs in it will slow down...

Widescreen Computer Display

more space to do your stuff especially if you are doing some image editing, and that requires a huge
amount of resolution size. There is an argument whereby you can increase your resolution to make it
tinier so that you can have more space but then again, the problem with making the....

Save Money By Optimizing Your Computer Power Management
(6) We often leave out computers on at full power even though we are away. With rising oil prices and
electricity costs, it is time we are more aware on how to save energy on our computers. It is
important to buy energy star complient computers as they use less energy. Power management allows
ideling computers to enter low-power states. The monitoe shuts itself off, the CPU reduces its
comsumption of power and the hard disk spins slower thereby saving energy, kind of like putting the
computer to sleep. Remember to set your computer to power saving mode. You can turn this....
