Have You Ever Felt Like Creating A Game ... - And if you have...

Etherion
Have you even thought of creating a game like an adventure game with your story, a rpg game or even an action one ?

The others who have, what programs or languages do you prefer ?

Yeah..I have ever thought about it. But if you think over it, its not really that easy to create a game.

Look at the graphics now of these days...they are way tooo advanced for just a programmer to handle. You have to have a graphic artist and so on. If you were talking about the Ms-DOS days, one man couls solo everything!

Now, you really need a team and lots of time and dedication. The only reason I feel why games these days were not aas nice as those in the past where that because in the past, most of the game Developers had the inspiration, passion and love for the game. But now, (i am not saying all), most game Devs are developing games for comercial reasons.

Probably, free games are better than commercial games because a free game dev does not expect returns whilst a commercial game dev is looking for the $$..

I am not saying this is true for everyone, but probably, this article would prove more true than it is today....

Yeah, its a sad thing....

Well, not all games have to have the latest trends in graphics, the best sound ever, the best music ever.......

I think that If someone had much talent and much time he could make a very nice sophisticated game... cool.gif

Actually I did this while in the Military, I had just finish playing Parasite Eve 2 and for no apparent reason I started creating a script for the thrid game, I think I put about 6-8 pages of characters talkings and FMV sequences. I even had a ending for it as well, but least to say it was just a thought that won't happen. Even though I wouldn't mind a PE 3 game to come out, it was a good series and hard as hell to. When I got Neverwinter Nights for hte Pc I create some nasty looking characters and stuff just to fool around with the aurora system that it uses and fro mtime to time I could create a good background story for a character as well.

I am seeking a game concept to develop. I have the ability to get the time, skills, resources and energy to develop a game, but I don't have the idea. Many people talk about learning languages in order to get started, but I don't have any ideas of what to program to learn them. Any suggestions would be helpful. If you would like to see your idea developed, please contact me to discuss the possibilities.

I want and am going to make a game someday. *is lazy and has four programming books and several other programming languages on her to do list to read and learn, but has barely cracked yet* Ought to read them sometime soon. Anyway, it'll probably be a browser-based or MUD. I might have the beginnings of a plotline for a game worked out, but I'm not sure how well it'd work out. Probably be one of those games no one ever played.

Anyone looking to make a game? Well Gamers-Fusion is a widely used open source project hosted by
www.sourceforge.net its got all the nesicary things to start the game, though it does have many
flaws to start. But thats the fun part, as i started learning PHP as i started a game using this.
The file you will want to download is the version 2.5, which is the most current version that works.
The beta v3 doesnt work. http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gamers-fusion <---location of files....
