| | Hi guys, well im building my dreamed pc, i need a lot of resources cause i want to get full into the 3d. And one of the things i need is to build and array of hardrives, but i have a bunch of questions about it
1- How do you do that ? lol 2- How many hard drives can i put in the array? is it determined by the motherboard? 3- How fast do you recommend the hard drives must be? 4- THeres a relation between the number of hard drives and the amount of ram i need? 5- In order to run well what else do i need?

1- How do you do that ?It all depends how many ports your motherboard accepts, in IDE or SATA connecting to your hard drives. Take note that the CD-ROM drives, including CD-RW and DVD-ROM drives, will share the total number of IDE inputs that the motherboard will accept. If it's a SATA hard disk, it will be dedicated, one SATA drive to one SATA port on the motherboard. Likewise for both, connect the hard drives to motherboard with its respective cable types. Be sure to set correctly for one master drive and the rest as slaves on their jumpers. Take note of their power required as you may need an additional power supply if your devices use more power than your default power suply unit can provide. 2- How many hard drives can i put in the array? is it determined by the motherboard?Yes. See above. It also depends if your computer case accepts the number of hard drives. Usually it's two. However it still depends if additional slots are provided in your computer case. It's only logical that each slot fits one hard disk. There isn't any where else you can place any extra hard disk safely. 3- How fast do you recommend the hard drives must be?At least a 7200rpm type because it's the basic specification you can find in hard disks. If you have the money, 10 000rpm will be best for a high end computer system. 4- THeres a relation between the number of hard drives and the amount of ram i need?There are slight relation involved between hard drives and the amount of RAM you have in your computer. However still it depends on what applications you are running that is using more than 1 hard disk simultaneously. The RAM provides sufficient memory so that lesser data will be written into the page file on the hard disks to lessen the time taken to process your data. More RAM means more efficiency. 5- In order to run well what else do i need?Since you are looking into a high end 3D computer system, I recommend dual-core processors and GPU (Graphic Processing Unit). Having a water cooling system installed will be best to keep your computer running at high speeds with lower temperature. Give your system a benchmark test to satisfy yourself if you desire.

It pains me to say it, but Intel CPUs tend to be better for rendering than AMD ones. If you're interested in doing a lot of 3D modeling you need a fast CPU and a fair amount of fast ram (1gb of ddr 400 would be fine). A fast GPU (video card) is nice, but it doesn't usually affect the rendering time as much as the CPU and ram. All that being said, I do a lot of 3D work on an Athlon XP 2600+ with 512 mb of ram, so you can get by fine with a less than top of the line machine.

Well right now i have a P4 3 GHZ with 1GB ram, but i dont remember if it was ddr or ddr2 (how can i know), and a ati radeon x600 256mb, its not so bad configuration for now, but if i want to get into more complex works in 3ds max i definitly need more resources. Hey windandwater do you have a website, where i can see your work, that would be nice, like talking to people with the same interest. lol

External History And Favorites
how to put them on a flash drive (0) i installed FF3 (which works great) on my flash drive for testing perposes (web desighning). anyways
yesterday at school since i had time i went to the library to use it but i realise that my history
and bookmarks where not saved on the flash even though i imported (duh i know they're on my hard

1 Terabyte Of Data On A Thumb Drive
Yes, a whole terabyte! (8) Source Seriously, this is innovative. I can't wait for them to produce these...though you know
the sellers are gonna jack the hell out of the price. In any case, I can only wonder what this will
mean for desk top and laptop computers. I mean if they can fit a terabyte in a thumb drive with this

Help For My Seagate Sata Hard Drive!
hard drive stops working randomly, please help! (7) I just bought that disk (seagate SATA 500G) half year ago and found it stop working randomly,
resulting the whole system to be dead. BTW, I am using Win XP. I tried to use seatool, provied by
seagate, to scan and repair the error, the program stop at the half of the process. I even can't
format entirely, just do quick format. I don't know what I can do and have been pissed off for a

Cd Drive Eject Button Problem
see inside for explanation (3) i have a old dvd burner that is very reliable. the only problem that i have is the eject button on
that thing is a little busted. i know you can right click to eject it but how can i return it(after
you put a cd you press that thing to let the cd go inside) it is an old one and you push the cd
holder like the other one i have. my question is, is there a way to program it or such. because one
burner program has an option like this and it works. but the program isnt free.....

Network Install Linux On Laptop With No Cd Drive?
(6) I was hoping some linux tech heads here could give me some pointers about installing linux onto a
laptop I have which has no cd drive. To make things worse it does not even boot from usb. I had
installed XP on it with an unattended install using the /makelocalsource switch which copies files
to the local hdd then finishes setup from there after reboot. Is there an easy switch function to
install any linux distro once you have the files on your hdd? (I have a mapped network drive to my
laptop and sharing from my desktop so i can access my files. I just don't know if....
Impossible Quiz

Array Pointers Can Be Backwards
(Kind of) (7) I just found this out today: When you're using arrays, when you reference a certain index, you
can switch the pointer and the subscript around. I know I'm not explaining that very good, but
here's and example: CODE int a[] = {1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11}; int b =1; int
c[] = {0,-5,11,0,0,5,0,0,0}; cout << b[a][c]; //Same as
c[a[b]]; See? 'b' is actually just an integer, it's not an array,
or pointer, or anything. Usually, you would have to put the array first, then an integer. Like....

4 Wheeler Talk
What kinds 4 wheel truck do you drive (6) I have a 2007 Dodge Ram with the Big Horn Package I have a lot of the horns and whisles with it. I
dont use it for plowing or work basically a family vrhical. I have the V8 Hemi engine in it with the
automatic 4 wheel locking drive dial. It has a six speed trans and 20 inch wheels and plenty of
crome. For a 4 wheels dirve it rides prety good not like the ols style 4 wheelers I use to ride in.
The gas milage also is not bad instead of like 8 to 10 miles per gallon I get like 18 to 19 mi per
gallon. Need less to say I have had some problems already basically warenty work b....
Hard Drive Recovery
(9) One of my friends dropped her Dell Inspiron 1501 and the computer now won't boot. On inspection,
the computer takes a long time to finish POST, then displays that it's loading Broadcom drivers,
Intel drivers, and then it displays: No OS detected. Check PXE ribbon . So I restart, check out
the BIOS, and it shows me that the computer isn't even seeing the hard drive. (I'm
personally used to a computer telling me that it can't find bootable media in this case, but I
guess newer computers, or just Dell, now tells you that an OS isn't being detected....

Problem With My External Hard Disk

Sony Vaio Cd/dvd Rom Drive Makes So Much Noise!
It's not just a little bit of noise (12) OK ever since i have bought this computer the CD/DVD ROM drive has made so much noise that i wanted

System Does Not Detect Dvd/cdrom Drive

Dvd Drive Problem
It Wont Read Anything! (10) Recently my DVD drive was playing everything, today i put a dvd disk in, it says nothing comes up
with no auto play or nothing loads at all. so i go to my computer and load from there, it dont load.

Xp Wont Assign Drive Letter To Usb 2.0 Hdd On Usb
(11) I have a USB 2.0 'enclosure' for 2.5" HDD with a 30GB Fujitsu MHT2030AT HDD. When I plug
it into a system with USB 1.1 ports only, although the Mass Storage Device and the Fujitsu MHT2030AT
USB Device appears in Device Manager, there is no extra Disk added to Disk Manager (so I can't
partition/format it). The same arrangement on the same PC running Linux works fine (though, as

Sata Hard Drive Not Recognized By Windows
WD 250gb SATA hard drive not working (12) Hi there! I recently re-installed windows on my 250 gb WD SATA hard drive. I had a 50 gb
windows partition and the rest for files. First thing that happened was my system partition
wouldn't boot and eventually chkdsk said that the mbr was unrecoverable. A friend recommended
that i use a seperate parallel hard drive to load windows and then convert the disk to dynamic in

Dead Hard Disk
Help! (6) This is the first time I've ever had to turn to the community for help... but I'm desperate.
My hard disk sort of died today. It's been grinding down for ever, and it eventually kicked it
in this morning. It's a 10gb drive sitting in an old IBM PC300GL I use for misc stuff -
