| | Google talk is awesome! I like how it is really compact, so it doesn't take up much screen space. The internet telephony is very similar to Skype, but google talk is still great. Does anyone know exactly how (what protocol, etc.) google talk incorporates the calling features? I'm just curious...
Thanks!

Yeah. I have a 95 so I can't get it. Hopefully a new computer will fix the problem. I heard from a relative it is really good. Even watched him use it. Seems to be really easy. It shows you when the person is writing, and instantly displays all the messages. Just like a regular chat room. Fast and effective, I am sure it will be a good hit. You can talk with mics to if you have them. It also shows you who is online. I think it is exactly like any other messenger. I don't know if it is better then MSN, but it is still way cool!

Ah, Google Talk.. it's like the Notepad of messangers. It's so simple.. it doesn't need a zillion little pictures and features you'll never use, clogging it up.. it's purely a messanger. You guys keep saying that no one is using it yet.. and personally, I find that a blessing. I have 5 people on my Googletalk BL.. and probably 100 on my Trillian's AIM/MSN/Yahoo. I let Googletalk auto-launch and leave it running all day, safe in the knowledge that only my 5 best friends can see me on it.. and if I get a message, it'll be one I want. Launching Trillian is almost a headache, sometimes, getting bombed by people you hardly know, amongst the few convs from your friends.

QUOTE(serverph @ Aug 24 2005, 06:40 AM) still in beta, but it looks promising. we've been hearing about some IM by google before, and here it is. users must have a GMAIL account to use it. but since almost everyone has gmail already, it won't be a problem building your contacts with the Google Talk IM. only thing is, it would require a much later version of windows: XP and 2000 only. mac and linux connectivity is available though using other IM clients. download Google Talk here: http://www.google.com/talk/its ok but in my opinion it could use alot of improvements barely no featuresor nothing and could use a better design also just too plain but i still use it hopin for a better one in the future

Wow great to know this google talk, i will try to use and see if it is good for me or not. I have many friends in usa who use google mail, so that we can download this google talk and just talk to hours together and this will avoid my phone billing. This also puts an end to me to find free call out service on the internet. I think it will be good than any other services like skype, pcphone etc.... let me try and see thanks for the details...

I must admit google talk is a great work by google. And as rightly pointed previously most of the people are now having gmail account to access google talk it wont be any problem to send instand messages.Enjoy! and it is true that there is no meaning for a chatting software if we can not chat with people. But I have one query in this regard like yahoo messenger is there any chat room facility in google talk? As for me I could not find one. There is much enjoyment in reaching rooms. It will be helpful for me if anyone can suggest the solution to my query. No Google Talk For Linux?
Is there anyway you can use gtalk in linux without opening your browse (6) I've been using linux (kubuntu and just installed sabayon) for the past month and am very happy
with it but for the fact that I can't use gtalk with it. Gtalk is my favorite chat client and I
don't like chatting using a browser. Does anyone know of a way to get gtalk to work in linux?....

Get The Word Out - Google Talk
(13) I think AIM is the most popular IMing service followed by MSN messanger. Google Talk is basically a
dead messanger and no one uses it. If anyone wants to help I say we get the word of this out to all
our friends and to forums. I also suggest we contact PHP, IPB, IF, and other boards to add a GT
button to go along with AIM, MSN, YIM, ICQ, and Email. Also if someone could make a Get Google Talk
userbar it would be a good way to get the word out.....
Video With Google Talk
Will it ever happen? (1) Does anyone think that Google, with it's massive computing capabilities, will ever add video

see Google build in this functionality.....
Google Os
(17) There is a rumor going around that google is going to make their own operating system. and they are
gonna put the os on very low cost computers they built. they computers are about 200 dollars. this
is probobly not going to make any money. people are already trying to pick windows, mac or linux. if
your cool you will pick linux. mac still has 5% market share in operating system industry. they
came out before windows. google might get a head start because its google. but they always make it
confusing about what their goals and future. even though they are constantly com....
Google Talk
I'm lovin' it (1) One day I was looking around the Google site, and noticed Google Talk, so I said what the heck and
downloaded it hoping it would install without administrator privelages (which it did). I installed
it, and invited one of my friends who has Gmail to use it; he downloaded it, and after about 5
minutes trying to get my headset working (turns out that the mic was muted) I was chatting in FM
radio quality sound! All I can really say is it's wonderful. No doubt about it.....
Google Talk Online
http://gtalkr.com (10) Well its finally happened someones gone and created a web based interface for Google Talk, to try it
out visit gtalkr.com , it has all of the great features of Google Talk (apart from voip, or at
least I can't find it) and a few new ones such as the searching and labels system from Gmail to
search through old chat logs, it even has display pictures and lists new gmail messeges, so anyway
the only real way to get a feel for the service is to try it for yourself. PS they have reported
server troubles but I am yet to experience any, just in case you can't connect ....
Google Talk
This is a new Google program (4) Google Talk Google Talk is this new instant messaging and audio messaging system that Google
recently created. It installs as a single executable and is quite lightweight. It can install in
around 10 seconds and is feasible even for 56 kbps dial-up users. Although it's quite a nice
thing that the Google Talk has no advertisements, this also means that it's funded very little
and that there's no extra stuff like video conferencing and file transfer, but you can do that
stuff if you download a third-party client (they allow you to do that). They provide y....
