I was on my computer today and I was kinda board so I just decided to see what happend if I typed in google.org instead of google.ca. To my surprise, intsead of redirecting me to google.ca, it took me to a new website http://www.google.com/googleorg/. I'm not exactly sure what it is, it seems to be a new part of google that they are making. There isn't a whole lot of information on the page. This is what it says on the page

Interesting. It looks authentic to me, no doubt about it. It's a folder from google.com But what on earth will google.org do? This is pretty mysterious. They probably thought no one will notice the page... Staffing inquiries? To become a staff of Google!? WOW! I wonder how much they'll pay and if they accept international applications.
Thats quite interesting.. philanthropic activities from google.. finally someone thought of helping others instead of just making money.. Though it is just a thought right now.. I appreciate it...

Pehaps it is being made to offer all of googles services such as gmail (when its finished beta) , obiusly the searches and mabye other services google are going to make, and that .org will be a homesite if you know what i mean
Maybe Google want to have a social, non lucrative side. This will help them to keep a good image to all of us. I think they are quite afraid of becoming a hated figure like Microsoft.
This is a very interesting find, psyfish. I am very interested in seeing where Google takes this. It's amazing how many features Google has that people are not aware of (most, or all, betas, such as Video, Gmail, Maps, etc). I think that this idea of google.org would be that of a good one.

I think that they just got the URL and the other stuff ready, then noticed that they don't have anything do with it. I got some hosting and everything here, then noticed I didn't need hosting for anything. I dunno really. I guess the only thing google can now do is job searchings. They have maps and school searching. They have internet content searching, all they need is a job search thingy.
of course. may be, they'll have a non-profit organization, which will donate money and such, organize events for a better world or activities which raises their image, so they won't be hated (like mizako said)

Hi, I tried to install Google Chrome web browser on my Windows XP computer and faced the following
error each time: "Access to this application is restricted." Well! I do not exactly know where
this comes from but I guess that it is one of Google's racist issues. As I tried from my home
country Iran, some Google services like Google Code are not available due to bans that the company
has put on particular advanced services. Because the installer first comes from the sub-domain
code.google.com I think that the same cause also applies here. The question is if....
Well it seems Google is going ahead with service even though the huge security risks that are
involved in this program. Of course, they are well aware of the problems that come with this, but
even if they got military grade security on their servers, there is far to much risk having your
medical records floating around on the internet. However, its not like they have been circulating on
the net for years through computer databases and what not, and that really surprises me that
hospitals haven't been attack or if they have, they been keeping it hush hush for years. ....
Alright well I've got google notifier on my mac and it works great, so I decided to install it
on my windows partition as well. Well I am having problems with the windows version (Surprised?).
Anyway the problem is that it doesn't remember my username and password. The mac version stores
my account username and password in the mac keychain, but the windows version prompts me for my
account username and password every time I start up the computer . It completely defeats the
purpose of the notifier. If anyone knows how to have it store the username and passwo....
I think it would be sweet to have a Google operating system. I searched google for it, and all that
I could find was a bunch of people with the idea for them to make one. I think they'd be able
to make it run all the programs we have already for Windows, Linux, and Mac, and make it a lot
better. They could integrate it with the internet a lot better that other OS's. So, do you
think they should make one, or that they ever will?....

For about one or two weeks my browsers(both internet explorer and firefox) were hijacked to some
degree by google. No matter what web address I would put in to either of them be it something like

i read in the paper today that google bought out youtube.com this week for 1.65 billion dollars.
Now thats a big aqusition for google, and if im not mistaken, the biggest purchase theyve made
during theyre 8 years in business. this is a big change from when google was just a small search
engine way back in the day. but aside from that, dont you find it a bit odd that google bought
youtube, when googlevideo just started up not very long ago? let me know how you all feel about

Has anyone ever used scroogle http://scroogle.org/ > instead of google itself to protect your
anyomonity and strip the ads? It has a much cleaner interface stripped of ads. The only 2 downfalls
is that the main site does not look as nice as google(but the results page looks good), and the
maximum results it can show is 100.....
Well I just found out about a new webhosting service offered by Goolge, the highly imaginatively
titled Google Page Creator, its your basic (ie not very good) free webhosting services, with the
massive advantage of its name being preceded by the all powerful Google. I havent extensively used
the service but I will atempt a brief overview of the service. The basic service consists of the
usual what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG), which is allows novice users to create pages with no
knowlegde of HTML (I'm sure you all know ho wthey work). It comes in the usual temp....

I was just wondering if Trap 17 members would be interested in working on creating a new 'Google
Bomb'? If enough people join in, then it is very easy to do. We could work out what it would be
and what it could lead too later, if enough people are interested. You don't have to be hosted
