| | I was wondering, and since this forum is an international thing, In North america we have a saying that goes "Giving my two cents" or something like that, it means having your say no matter how small in a conversaiton. I was wondering, what about places where there is not 1 cent coin? |

In Germany it's "seinen Senf dazu geben" ("adding one's mustard") ... but I'm not sure where that comes from...

it does make sense, and I think It's an interesting question. I suppose in different countries and languages there are different sayings for adding your little thoughts into a conversation.

In Australia we did away with our one & two cent coins - lowest is five cents now so everything gets rounded up or down when you pay with cash - but the saying still has the same meaning here.

here in the philippines we also use the 2 cents worth thing although we just got it from the states (english is our second language and most filipinos are fluent in it). We do not have an exact tranlslation or counterpart with that although sometimes e use the term "kuro kuro"..

QUOTE(Compute @ Nov 5 2005, 07:48 AM) They don't mean 2 cents as in Money I think it means just like your opinion no matter how small it or meaningless it is. Not 2 cents of your money. I think actually it does originate back to money, more specifiacally to do with money in poker. But yes, today, that's more or less what the saying means.

QUOTE(Nani Cheri @ Nov 4 2005, 12:33 PM) In holland we had 2 Eurocent, exastly!!. But thank god they banned those stupid little cents. I like 50 cent better : Go! Go! Go! shorty.. its you birthday!! Just kidding. You're extremely lucky, here in France we still have 2 cents and 1 cents. They're so annoying and hard to get rid of! I don't think there is a French equivalent to giving one's "two cents" but we do have the saying "une blague à deux balles" which is an insult. It basically means, literally that the joke is worth "two Francs", that's it's stupid.

Do You Ever Feel Like Giving It All Up?
Forums, websites, the internet... (15) I've made all sorts of online friends in the past, and I got bored and just moved on. Now
there's a new group and I just don't know. Maybe it's because I've spent this
Saturday night having a few drinks and sitting on the internet with nothing to do. Does anyone else
ever feel like just giving it all up? I feel like I am stuck in a rut. I haven't learned
anything new design wise lately, either. That usually makes all of this exciting again. Has anyone
else ever thought like this? What did you do about it? I'm such a nerd. /sad.gif" style="....

Pretty Expensive Ten Cents

$1,322,500, the most ever paid for a United States dime, experts said. The winning bidder took
part in the sale by phone and was not identified. The coin, described as being in nearly pristine
condition, was one of only 24 dimes made that year at the San Francisco mint, whose director had
requested them as gifts for visiting bankers. Just 10 of the dimes are believed to remain. The
coin was consigned to the auction by Bradley Hirst of Richmond, Indiana, who bough....
