Okay, I've started building a computer myself, and I didn't think it was necessary to start a new thread when this one was already up. But I'd like to get some suggestions and advice for my plans. I don't exactly bring in that much money, but I plan to at least have it running by the time I graduate. I'm ordering the case and the motherboard tomorrow. Here is what I plan to get:
WAIT. Get the premium version of that mobo. With the deluxe your just asking for trouble with that chipset fan. If your spending this much on a computer get a M2 socket instead. There is no more CPU's going to be released for s939 so you cant upgrade it.
4GB? 2gb should be enough for now...
As for buying components.. save up and when you have enough these components WILL be cheaper... and there will be better out as well.

Thanks much Dregnought. I only plan to put 4gigs eventually. Only 1 to start though. But I'll look into the premium mobo. I didn't realize that socket 939s were going to be discontinued.
the premium isnt a M2 socket. I dont know which is, but if you REALLY wanted to go s939 then get the premium.
There are certain specifications that I need on the motherboard. Mainly very small things, but nonetheless, I need them. I need at least 2 x16 PCIx slots, 2 USB headers, and 1 IEEE header. And it took me a while to find an M2 mobo to match those specs on TigerDirect.
And with that said, I've found this. The Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition NVIDIA Socket AM2 ATX Motherboard. M2 socket, 2 x16 PCIx, 2 USB headers, 1 IEEE header, and as you said before: no chipset fan.
And along with all that, it also seems to have its own wi-fi wireless g adapter built into it (so no wasting money, time, or space on an external adapter), along with 2 Ethernet ports.
I'm sure there will be. And with as much time that it takes me to save up the money, I'll probably end up getting a different one. But thanks for all your help!
I think it would be better if you went for a better processor than 4gb of RAM. You will always be able to add more RAM sticks, but if you want a new processor you have to buy it new, and theres no use for the old one. Look around. Dad and i browsed the web around 3 hours a night looking at computers that people and companies were selling. Sometimes the smallest companies provide the best prices. If anyone lives in New Zealand check out httP://www.pcgear.co.nz its based in Dunedin and very cheap
hmm didnt see the dual core bit on the end. Still you may want a better processor, on another one of my posts people snapped at me saying that i should get a very minimum of 3.0 GHz i guess your dual core should do.
Make sure you have fans sorted out, for a big harddrive, lots of RAM and a dual core processor you may need a few, you may even want to try water cooling?
I had gotten my latest issue of playstation magazine and happen to stumble across an interesting
article about the worlds fastest computer and I have ot say that computer is fast. This computer
can do a petaflop or to break it down in simpler terms it can do over a quadrillion calculations per
second. Here is the kicker, hardware from the Playstation 3 system made this possible; includes
6,949 dual core AMD Opteron chips and 12,960 cell engines (heart of the PS3). As for cost I would
say including $400 for a PS3 that this computer cost at least or over $10 m....
Hey everyone! I'm going to be buying a new laptop in a few months, and I am very confused
about one thing: AMD manufactures a LOT of 64 bit processors, while Intel almost never does.
I'm clueless when it comes to processors, and I'm concerned because I haven't really
been paying attention to processor specs as much as HD and RAM, even though those are the cheapest
and easiest to switch. Does anyone have any good tips about processors? I'm mainly wondering
what the difference between 64 bit and 32 bit is, but other than that I also want to know i....
I just ordered a gaming mouse that should be pretty good. I don't know much about mice, but

I have looked at the new microsoft computer called microsoft surface, it looks amazing but slightly

Hello Trap17 Friends, I am posting this because I need help to get a computer screw unscrewed, the
problem is that I sort of forced it a while back and it is sort of deformed. I am able to get all
the other screws out except this particular screw. I need to get it out so that I can check the
thermal paste on my processor and to clean the heatsink. I might even swap out the processor soon,
so before I buy a new processor for it, I need to be able to get that screw unscrewed. Does anyone
here have any tricks or ideas? Thanks.. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle"....
Okay, this is the second time building a computer on my own. The motherboard had a 24-pin socket but
I didn't notice that the power supply had a 20-pin connector with an extra 4-pin to go with the
20-pin one. So what I did without knowing the proper connection, I connected the 20-pin to the
240pin socket on the motherboard and the extra 4-pin to the 4-pin socket across from the
motherboard. The correct 4-pin was left hanging and wasn't used. So after all these things were
done and I connected the power cable to the PSU and switched it on, I heard some popping so....

might want to build one by scratch. The form factor is used to determine what power supply,
computer cases and motherboards you can use when building a fully customized computer instead of
getting one pre-built; such as Dell, Apple, Sony, and Alienware. There are 6 form factors (in....

Got a question, Again. I want to be able to have to monitors, Two keyboards, And two mouses. So
that they can be all hooked up to one computer but I can have several users doing different things.
But so that I can connect to the internet on the computer and all the users be able to share it at
the same time. I have Dial-up. So the question is, If I get another monitor card so I can hook up
two monitors will that work? Then there is this thing that you plug it into your computer, and it

background experience with this computer problems. He told me he was cracking a program or something
like that. So, maybe a virus *BLEEP*ed him. If anyone know what is the problem and what it is the
solution would be really nice. thanks in advanced!....
I have a problem with my computer. How come it's restarting on its own? When the electricity
fluctuates, the computer restarts. I cannot control that though and that is tolerable given the

it is just restarting on its own. Is this spyware, trojan or virus? I scan my system regularly

What the above said....lol... I was browsing the Internet the other day looking for the answer of
which processor is the best for gaming, the compared processors are Intel Pentium IV HT E and AMD
Athlon 64 (if I am not mistaken...) Most people say that Intel is better than AMD but also more
expensive. While others say then AMD can be over-clocked and is less hotter than Intel. So know, I
want your opinion. Which is the best processor for gaming? Intel or AMD? Thank you for the help.....
