computer sizes will get smaller and smaller (mac mini for example). all the computers will be networked by optical lines or very fast wireless network. All cd/dvds will be replaced by usb sticks(of course much faster, larger storage and smaller size)

I think a totally new appliance will be created instead of the computer adding technology. I have no idea of what this appliance will be, but remember when the internet was only used by the armed forces/ government? (I don't but I have studied it)

I don't even think... like shackman said... there will be computers, I think it will be something else, waaayyy faster... waaayyy smaller and waaay more complex. I personally am happy with what i have now, and I don't beleive i'd go buy anything else, unless its to upgrade a lil. Computers are fine the way they are I think

Smaller, Faster, and more American. Flexible fold up screens, brain hook ups to the internet and 448 Bit Processors that will make our PC's today look very very bad in a few years. It happened in 1980 and it will happen again ONCE WE SOLVED THE DARN OIL ISSUES

That already exists.. it's when you put the mask on to see through it and all this body equiptment so you ARE in the game.. It's now banned in the USA for causing a few death's and stuff, but other than that, in Germany, getting shot in one of these things feels AWSOME!

I think in stead of computers everyone will have a pda, wireless connected trough the entire world network. Featuring a lot of gadgets already included. You can do almost anything on it.

Who knows what the future of computers will be? I'm wondering what would become of the Mac vs. PC war. Many people mentioned that the two would combine to make a super computer that has the best from both Apple and Microsoft.

darker333, yep it's very very possible that would really happen. and i don't think that big Off button would work.. for that every single robot would need to have some sort of desactivation chip.. well if they're so inteligent im sure they would figure a way to get it off them...

Another article I did to compare IPV4 and IPV6. Ipv4 vs. Ipv6 Ipv4 is the fourth version of
Internet protocol, but the first one to be widely deployed. It uses a 32 bit addressing and allows
for 4,294,967,296 unique addresses. Ipv4 has four different class types, the class types are A, B,
C, and D. An example of Ipv4 is 207. 142. 131. 235. The ipv4 uses a subnet mask because of the large
numbers of computers used today. The subnet mask helps reduce the number of unique IP given to
companies, corporations and so on. An example of a subnet mask is a company. A arch...
Future Os Concept

it is my perception on future OS, just some random thoughts Internet already is a indispensible part
of computer and future OS will be focus on better using and serving Internet. nowadays most PC are
clients of the whole network, in the future, one important feature of OS will be making every PC a
client as well as server. for example, by default /my documents will be home directory of servers
like web server, ftp server or mail server, but by default everything is kept private but you can
make anything public by simply right-click the item. you can also encrpyt you publ...

Computers and their Future in Our Future What kind of role do you think computers will play in the
future of the world? I know that computers are already implemented in allot of today’s technologies

involved in? I think that in the future, computers will be implemented allot more into the daily
lives of everybody. I mean this because the information highway is growing in great numbers! And
since the information super highway is growing, I think that the use of the de...

Computers To Read Lips

A team of reserarchers at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK, has begun a progject to
devise a system for lip reading using computers.. The system would take a video taped conversation
and convert it to text. This technology will become a valuable tool for crime fighting, security
and a host of other applications such as mobile phone cameras and in-car speech recognition. This
futuristic system will replace the people who can read lips, such people are shrinking in numbers
and even they are no always precise. The real challenge is getting an accurate compute...
Supercooled Light-speed Computers
- frozen atoms + light= compy @ warp speed (14)
This was inspired by the other guys post about the speed of light. So the new thing is using light
waves to do computing =) Of course it isnt really working yet but I thought it was really cool so
i figured i would post something here. The basic working thing is that you supercool atoms to
within a few degrees of absolute zero. Then you send a beam of light through them - and - viola, a
baby can crawl faster than light. What happens is that as the light wave passes through the frozen
atoms its speed is dramitcally reduced. So much so that the speed of light goes fr...

In the second "Back to the Future", the flying skateboard was indeed very cool. I looking at Popnext

the one in the movie, theirs is based on an air cushion, like hovercrafts. I don't know if it

money or go to the emergency room (I guess that money would be wasted there as well)....
