I'm been looking for a download manager software that is a 100% freeware.
Download Accelerator doesn't suit me well because it's a shareware.
Anyone knows of any freeware download manager?

Does "Free Download Manager" downloads from different mirrors simultaneously? As in downloading from different servers all at the same time, to increase efficiency in case a server download is capped at a certain speed. GetRight, another download manager, does this. However it isn't a freeware, so I cannot have it.

All the good download manager are not free, which sucks. If your a programmer you can try to make your own, look on http://pscode.com/ I know a free download manager that will download simultaneously. It is FreshDownload from http://www.freshdevices.com/ . Even your serial is free. No ads the last time I used it. You have to register first, so they can send you junk which you can unsubscribe. Most free download managers has ADS, which slows that your downloads.

downTHEMall! for firefox is not actually a proper download manager, i've got it installed. downTHEMall! just pretty much allows you to download all contents of a page and then all pages that that page links to and so on and so forth. from memory though, if you are using Firefox, there is an extension available from the extensions site (tools menu->extensions->get more extensions). freshdownload is pretty good, my dad uses it on his computer. in my opinion, apart from the start/stop (pause) feature, download managers are generally a waste of time with internet any slower than 1500 kbps. this is because slowness is generally caused by your connection's speed limitations rather than the speed at which the file server is operating. (i don't know what internet speeds are like where you guys are from, but here in Australia, 1500 kpbs is considered to be fairly top-of-the-line). if the site you are trying to download from has an FTP (file tranfer protocol) server, you could try using FTPCommander - website: www.internet-soft.com. FTP downloads are heaps faster than HTTP downloads from my experience. cheers
