I'll start with Bravenet.Bravenet They'll clobber you with ads, but they have tons of stuff--chat, forums, calendar, journals, templates, etc., and a nice members area, where you can keep track of what you're using. They have articles and tutorials, too. Their affilate program pays $1 when anybody clicks through from your site and joins. Since signup is free, that makes it easy to earn $$ if you're site is geared to developers. My only gripe is that I don't like the looks of their interface. Everything starts with a dorky-looking button that simply doesn't fit with my decor. Suz

Are PHP and CSS as easy to write as HTML? Do they take any special permission or anything that may not come with a free site? (I learned the hard way tha my main free site doesn't support CGI--that's why I'm over here, now.)

I like bravenet.com and they really helped me when I just started. But Now I go to zymic.com and even though they are mostly about templates (which are awsome) they still have some other resources there like tutorials and free scripts that you can download. Plus there own forums where you could chat about stuff unlike other sites . But the point is here is that bravenet got old and ads really suck, espcialy when you acidently click on them and you get a virus or some lovely spyware on your computer. Which really blows the big one, lol.
