Statcounter.com dosent require even that. you have the option to have an invisible tracker and also when you have one account you can have stats for many websites with it. I'm not sure about the amount but i havent come to a limit yet.
I would like to add my "thumbs up" for Statcounter. They are awsome! ever since I joined up & added the code to my page (invisible) They have been adding more & more features. There is of course an option to upgrade for like $10 a month, but for my little site it's not necessary. One thing I've found HIGHLY amusing is that my stats GO DOWN EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND! People are certainly doing their searching online while on the CLOCK! hahaha
They also offer somehting called "search engine wars" which tells you what percentage of people are finding you from what search engines, pretty cool. My stats are 68.75% Google , 18.75% Yahoo! 12.50% MSN
OMG! And some of the things people search for to find my site! Yikes! How in the world do they come up with these things! These people are SICK!
I love statcounter because it allows me to use the "invisible" feature to hide my page views from customers. I find a "counter" to be unnattractive and unprofessional, and who needs to know how many people visit your site anyway?
I don't like the free services with ads. I only sign up with them when I have no other choices left, no other solutions. I know visitors are gettin really irritated by a website full of ads.
Many websites are using Google Ads and other type of making-money services. But if you want a serious web-site with your business you should never put a free service with ads.
I wouldn't download a counter script... I prefer learning how to do it and just do for myself... I've done the hardest thing that was finding a good place as trap17... learning to program in PHP should be the easiest, at least programing these simple things! XD... One day I'll create my own counter, but for I won't do neither will I "copy" one.

Recently i found a cool script, a free script which you can use to start your own file uploading and
sharing service, which you can also make it free or for people to pay for, or even both. The
script is made with php, it doesn't work with databases in mysql, only with txt databases, i
mean, you do not need to create and configure too many files. You just need to download the
script, which is less then 1 MB, then extract it, then open the read me text file, and finally, you
just need to configure a file named config.php which is really very easy, then upload all ....

I searched to see if anybody mentioned Powerbullet, but didn't see it. Powerbullet Presenter
can make basic flash animations with pictures, test and shapes, but it is no where near as powerful
as Macromedia Flash. They do have a support forum, and I have gotten alot of help there. I have
also tried other free flash software: LiveSwif (button maker), and Advanced Effect Maker, neither of
which are as easy to use a Powerbullet. LiveSwif is nolonger in business, so there is no support
whatsoever. I believe all of these are still available on downloads.com ....
