Right now, I am using a 52.0 kbps internet connection(which is extremely slow!!), I can't afford high-speed interent at the time and have been searching for a genuine internet accelerator! I've already tried downloading the google acclerator, but my computer is a windows 98 and to download the google accelerator you must have at least a windows 2000. Does anybody know of any good FREE internet accelerator(besides the google one) that acually work!!!! P.S. I live in North Dakota where it costs me about 40 bucks a month just for high speed internet from my cable provider!

In my experience, these programs rarely (and when I write rarely I mean never) produce any real results especially when we are talking to such slow connections like 56k....

My advice is to just start collecting money for a broadband connection...


Btw, where are you from and how much does it cost there ? I live in Greece right now and the prices are the same with diamonds and gold...

To help minimize the demand for information which you need to download and thereby making a slower response time, follow these instructions for the Trap17 Forum:

1. click My Controls in the Nav Bar (just under the Heading on each page). This will take you to your Forum Control Panel
2. click on 'Edit Board Settings' in the list of Options in the Left hand sidebar. (scroll down a bit)

Part of the Board Settings is as follows:


Set these to 'No' and you will have a clickable link instead of an actual image in the postings and there should be no images that you will have to download, thereby increasing your speed of page refresh, etc.
I am on a Cable DSL line and find that these settings help the Page Load Times.

john said it correctly, all accelarators do is cache website more and thats why they seem to load faster. So go with the suggestion and save up and since x-mas is coming ask for internet this years .

on a 52kbps connection you can't really speed it up, unlike with broadband you can have muliple pipelines (or whatever you callit) but with dial up you can't because you have something called a narrow-band connection and it wouldn't make a difference, really. sorry pal, maybe save up a bit of money?

There is a very good program to tune up your tcp settings, still, you will not notice a big difference, even if you had a high speed connection.

The thing is that it is impossible to increase your speed to more then your isp can afford, at least to you, you can try tweeking your tcp settings to increase some points, but in average, you will not get a highier speed then 5 to 10 KBytes/per second, and most of the times, your speed will be less then 10, so why give yourself the trouble to do this!

Just forget about this, get the money or whatever, to get high speed connection, that is your best choice, beleave me.

If you really want to increase the loading of websites, then do this:

Disable viewing images with your browser, you just need to view text in most cases, and enable this function when you need it.
Disable viewing flash objects with your browser, because a lot of ads now are all in flash format, and most sites do not have flash.
Get an "ad blocker" to block ads and perhaps even pop-up's, they can slow things a lot!

There are browsers which let you configure things easier then with internet explorer, try using Maxthon or Firefox, firefox is also a good choice to configure which stuff you want to get loaded when viewing websites in a much more faster way.

Ive never used an accelerator do they really make a difference and also do they work with broadband connectons.. even tho my connection is pretty good, a bit faster is always better

This programs work, it is not only the cache trick, there is more to it actually, but you can only notice a significant difference in high speed connections, still, if you know how to configure and test different tcp settings, you might tune up the speed, so try the above program, i got some results with both low and high connections in the past, garbage.

Well, that TCP Optimiser may do one thing correctly I presume...

It may have the option to increase the maximum connections per server (MaxConnectionsPerServer in the registry) which will/may increase the speed of the downloading of data of servers (in the same way download accelerator does to files)...but it must only be used for broadband users...

Other than that, I can't think of any other tweaks that will really improve the speed.

well i would have to find someone who knew how to tweak it becasue i have no clue on how to work the TCO optimiser. Hell I had a guy tell me once to uncap the modem and to this very day I have no clue.. what he was talking about..
