For forum hosting I have so far had the opportunity to use:
www.proboards.com - Free and decent options.
invisionfree.com - I liked the admin scheme very much.

In my opinion, Invision board is best free service. They just add a row of google ads on page header, which shouldn't bother you much, as the ad color matches to the board skin pretty well. The admin control panel is much more versatile. Only thing they lack is a true search capability.

You can use fantastico to install PHPBB3 which is IMO best free forum on the web.
Then you can have it as your own and mod it to your liking

Bad thing if they don't have the old version of IPB where a free version was given out for limited time just like Invision Free. Good thing absolutely if they do have. One more thing, IPB costs superbly high for people with low budgets. However, i hope so, if i could make about five hundred dollars a month of adsense and that could help me startoff buying IPB license.

Before you ever look for a forum host though, think carefully if you could switch to another host easily with data intact. This concerns your survival rate as well as your time as you wouldn't want to start all over again? Secondly, the uptime where you may lose potential members and members as they get infuriated with your community being down. (I tell these personally as members of several forums)

I think if you are on trap17, you probably have hosting, and I have to say phpBB is the best, and I would recommend that you install that.

The display is fantastic, it is completely customisable, and you have complete control over it.
